Default Just brought my BABY home... Optics or not ???

I might post some pics later???
I Have been debating 1-4x24 scope or a Vortex Strike Fire...
But Now I am not sure...
I qualified in the USAF, US Army and Army NG (Expert)...ALL with NO optics... between 1990 and 2005...
I just forgot how nice and natural the AR sight picture is...
What to do, what to do ???

I think it will be very dependent on the type of shooting you want to do. I stick with the stock sights, a non magnified red dot is quick and simple, but I still prefer the stock sights. Plus, majority of my shooting is at an indoor range at 25yards, and I do not like bench rest shooting. So just think about what you want to shoot and get the appropriate sights/optics to suite your needs.

Click on the insert image button in the reply area. It is a little box with what looks like a mountain in bottom and a little box in the top right corner. That will be the easiest way.

Default Get both

Like That_Guy said, it depends on what type of shooting you do.

I use mine for pest control and to have fun plinking. I want to get into competitions eventually. That being said, I like to have options for whatever I'm doing that day, or just whatever I feel like using.

My dot and 1-4 are on QD mounts and always return to zero after swapping. The MBUS are always there when I feel like using "irons", or proove someone wrong when they say I must be a bad shot without optics (like my grandfather).

congrats and welcome. this is my first rifle so i wanted the extra stuff on there. i removed my stock sights and use a red dot/rvg for indoor/short range and a scope/bipod setup for outdoor/long range.

WOW!!.. thank you for all and whatever you have done for our Fine Country...

That Said

I really like the Halo/Reflex Sites.... Sorry... If a deer/Zombie/Prairy dog is over 100yds away.... my 30-06 will DECIMATE Them....
But Inside 100yds my M&P's will do the work

Tried my Redfield 3x9 and my NcStar Sniper 2x7 and ALWAYS love the reflex/Halo Site a lot better... just, well, More FUN!! and the Accuracy is ASTOUNDING considering they are 1x optics

Just got a Eotech 512 and will test it on Both my 15-22 and M&P Sport on Tuesday.....

with your ability and skills.... Keep it simple... yes KISS..... Do some 100% Co-Witness with a Halo Site.... and have a BLAST

yes....

Pun Intended

....

I personally like a scope on the 15-22. It looks cool and when shooting at small targets IE paint balls it makes it a bit easier to see. Ok with my eye sight I need a scope to hit a paint ball... But that said I can hit my paper targets without a scope just fine and have pretty decent grouping.

It all comes down to what you want to do.
