Default Scope question Please read and offer advice or answers

Hello,

My question is this:

I have two new Nikon scopes however, the one I have an issue with is the p-22 bdc 150 3x9-32. Under the turrets are several lines with the numbers 0 1 2 3 4 and a line next to them. What are those numbers used for and what are they called? I assume they are used for something obviously with the rapid action turrets but what I don't know.

I apologize ahead of time if this is common knowledge but, I am confused why I can't seem to get a solid answer from Nikon customer service about this. I've been waiting for 2 days for the 1800 number to call me back and tell me what the numbers are under the turrets.

I do not own that scope, so I'm giving you a general scope answer. I assume you have a zero on there as well. The zero will bring back to your zeroed aim point. I'm assuming with a .22 you would zero it at either 50 or 100 yds. Your BDC lines are accurate with whatever grain bullet the system uses, however let's say you are firing a different grain bullet than the system uses, lighter rounds will fail less than the BDC estimates, heavier rounds faster. I'd assume the 1-4 is to allow you to set drop points for a round of your choosing, rather than being stuck with the ability to use just one weight of bullet. I would also assume you could use the 1-4 points for intermediate distances or longer distances that the BDC does not cover using the recommended round.

That's my 2 cents, with a lot of if's between it. I'm sure someone on here owns one and can give you a better answer.

Scott, We've been chatting for 2 days about the scope question. The P-22 is a 2-7 and comes in either Rapid action Turret where you zero at 50 then turn the turret to the distance you are shooting,or, the BDC model which you have. When zeroing, remember each click is .25 inch at 50 yards.
The numbers are for dialing your turret to the distance you are shooting but since you are using the BDC model, it is much easier to use Spot On. I will be happy to talk discuss this with you on the phone if you still have question's?
