Default Fail to fire

I just bought a used M&P15-22 from a local gun shop.
I did research and was excited to get one and was pleased to find one used at a reputable gun shop here in central Ohio.

Brought it home loaded the magazine (not a clip, now I know) with CCI mini mags, shot four rounds and then FTF. Pulled the charging handle, couple more rounds same thing.

Checked the rounds that didn't go off and the dimple seemed slightly shallow.

Took it back to gun store, he took it to the back room. Said he cleaned and fired 10 rounds no problem.

I brought it home, loaded up, and same as before. FTF after maybe 5 rounds.

I bought some test amo to try other brands. You guys have any other ideas?

I'm having this issue right now as well. I'm away on work, so I have to wait to get to the cause of mine, but I've heard possibilities of broken firing pin a few times. One problem I was having was the trigger pin walking so it would come out of one side, rendering the assembly useless as it was at a slight angle so it was striking the round, but barely. I got anti-walk pins and solved that problem. Another suggestion would be a lighter or shorter firing pin rebound spring as was mentioned in another thread. Scroll down the threads and find "Light strikes, Timney 3lb, and slidefire" or something along those lines. Those might be easy places to check out. Good luck though, and make sure and update when you figure out what it was to help out everyone else

give s&w a call, they might be able to help you out even if you arent the original owner.

Update. Gun shop appears to have fixed it. Gunsmith said he the pin was too short, he compared to a new one and the one in mine was noticably shorter, so he swaped them out.
I ran 15 rounds through it just fine. I'll know for sure once I get to the range.
I contacted S&W, they sent me a return shipping label. I'm tempted to send it to them anyway to let them check it out.
Your thoughts?

Man I would love to see what S&W pays for shipping just for warranty work. I have sent my OR and my 15-22 back in the last 6 months, and it seems that every second or third thread here lately mentions a shipping label. That being said, my OR was back in 15 days, and my 15-22 was back in 16 days, so plan on 2 or 3 weeks without the rifle if you send it. Good luck as nothing is more frustrating then an expensive purchase that does not work!

Hmm, I wonder if the firing pin was broken from the beginning?

I had the same thought. Gunsmith said it looked like it had been made that way, not broken.
