Date of manufacture
I'm looking at a 15-22 with a serial # that begins in DZS....
Does anyone know what year that would be from?

My first one is DVZ and that was November 2011, so your,s is likely 2012, as well.
I'm not sure what all the emphasis upon manufacturing date is all about, except on used rifles.

I think there were some early models that had issues, especially with mags not properly staggering rounds. Anyway, I think that was resolved years ago.

Magazines have nothing to do with rifle serial numbers. Rounds not staggering properly is a loading issue, not a production issue.
You are correct, though, that the design problems, primarily OOB problems, were solved several years ago.

Yeah I'd be concerned if it was what, AAA or something, but I was just asking for interest sake.

Just call their customer service number and they will tell you the month and year it was built. It literally took 30 seconds for the guy from Smith to get me that info. I was kinda surprised mine was built 6 months before I bought it.
