The main reason the wrench tool was made was not to remove the barrel but instead remove it so the handguard can be removed in case you want to replace it with a real AR handguard. Tacticool22 makes an adapter that goes on the barrel nut that gives it the same threads as a AR barrel nut so you can then install the handguard of your choice.
