Question 15-22 Handguard - getting it off?

I've been seeing all kinds of pictures of people's 15-22s that have different handguards on them. It looks to me that the handguard is meant to be permanently attached to the upper, so how do people get them off and attach delta rings for freedom in handguard mounting?

oh then I used this front sight post: TRUE SHOT TECHNOLOGIES SMITH WESSON 1522
edit: oh, he is sold out at the moment. website says he can put you on a waiting list.

here is a video of a forum member on how he did the m4 conversion. He did this before the 15-22 specific A2 front sight post was made available.
How to convert your 15-22 into an M4 Carbine. - YouTube

here is another video. i think he is a forum member too. idk
M&P 15-22 Handguard conversion to New Troy Battle Rail.mp4 - YouTube

There is a thread on here where a forum member pretty much taught me how to do it and "talked" me through the steps needed.

crazy, you doing the M4 conversion or going with a free floating?

Besides having a hard time getting a good grip on the barrel, trying to line up the teeth on the barrel nut was pretty tedious.

I was fortunate and tlm3210 gave me a complete "shopping list" of what I would need. His help saved me a lot of headache.

[IMG][/IMG]Check the classifieds section. There are a few members selling most of the things you would need. I found most of my parts used on a local forum. The only parts I paid for new was the front sight and muzzle break. But you will need a barrel vise to hold it when taking the the barrel nut off.

Thanks for the step-by-step, guys. This will be something that I will definitely be doing once I am done with my current AR project.
