Welcome from Virginia, Congrats on your new 15-22, Most likely he used crayon or you can use paint stick

Adding color to a 15-22

Amazon.com: Lacquer-Stik Paintstick, White

Looks good. The only thing needed yet is a suppressor for the front. Silencerco is my choice but they all look good.

Default Tricks to applying the Lacquer Sticks? Cleanup? Messy?

I read in one of the linked threads where one of the moderators also suggested Lacquer Sticks. This looks to be a more “permanent” alterative versus using crayons.

My concern/question is how to apply a Lacquer Stick to such small letters/areas, but then do the clean-up to the surrounding surfaces without affecting the lettering.

I’d be so appreciative if you could share some tricks, tips, any things to be careful of when applying Lacquer Sticks to a polymer surface.

Best Regards, Mike

I did a little more research and discovered that this has been a very heavily discussed topic. I found a lot of reading material when I did the search.

Mike , Work it into the area, let it set for few. It works great and is more permanent IMO, just use some mineral oil and it cleans up real nice, you might do it a couple of times it depends on what you want, I know from experience. Steve

I'm kinda slow...sorry, gotta clarify one thing -- As far as clean-up, the mineral oil won't damage the polymer? I can work the clean-up carefully with Q-tips and such, but I would feel like such a complete failure if I melted a hole through the lower.

Best Regards, Mike

No damage, Mineral is the best thing , it is not a solvent just a natural oil, this is what the manufacturer recommends. I have used on my all my polymer guns and it works great , no problems. It will not harm your MP1522, I have used on mine. Not to worry, if your are still worried then use some crayons instead.

Thanks for the info and the suggestions. Yes, my preference is for something that would be more permanent. So, OK. I'll give it a go and make a trip to the local Crafts store for Lacquer Sticks, white and red, and swing by Home Depot for a small container of mineral oil. Sounds like a fun way to spend New Year's Day!

Best Regards, Mike

I have that same bipod. UTG low profile?..I hate it lol. Doesn't like 25round magazines. Wish the legs would extend a bit more.

Make sure you get Mineral Oil, NOT Mineral Spirits...big difference. LOL. You should be able to get the Mineral Oil at Walgreens or somewhere like that.

Best of luck and post pictures when you're finished.

ok, the more i looked at it i didnt like it..
the dessert tan was an odd looking color and to boot, i tried 3 stores to match it and couldnt.
So i started with a camo, never done camo before but it looked good. but as i went i ended up with 1 solid color, so i made my stock goodies camo.. with this gun they slid on and off so easy, why not..

It shoots the same, no matter which way the sight faces.

But don't you know, that missing inch of sight radius will affect the groupings by the foot at 50 yds!

I was probably too easy to hit with it turned the right way. Always looking for a challenge!
