All depends on what type of shooting you plan on doing?
I usually shoot 25yard-roughly 80. For that I use a red dot with a .83 riser. Lets me lower 1/3 co witness with my magpul sights.
Plan on adding a red dot magnifier so I can see a little bit further. Browse in the picture thread for set ups. And the search function towards the top right corner (when you are in the main "entrance" for the 15-22 forum) for red dot questions and different set ups with scopes. Sky is the limit with these rifles.

PA has been out of stock for like a year
So, to get something similar (I have PA and Bushnell) look for the Bushnell TRS-25 and a riser QD mount like a UTG/Leaper #MAD0340. That should get your red dot up high enough to cowitness with your BUIS.

They had them last week for $84.95. They are OOS now. Since you have both, which do you prefer?

I have the PA micro dot (the one everyone wants and is normally sold out - he must have gotten them in and then out again as he was literally out of them for like +6 months IIRC) and the TRS-25. Very similar, equal in quality. I like them both. Not sure if I fvor one over the other. I do think the QD mount on the PA is pretty cheesy and does not QD that well. So, all in all, I think the TRS with a UTG mount that is truly QD is a better buy and certainly equal quality. Even Nutnfancy likes the TRS. In the future, I will just buy the TRS with a good QD riser and save some money and have an equal sight setup... so I guess I lean towards the Buhsnell slightly. Function and size and such are so similar really.

Great. Thank you. From what you said, I probably missed my shot on the PA for a while anyway. I did read plenty of positive reviews of the Bushnell.

It depends a bit on what model 15-22 you got. I got the MOE, which has folding Magpul sights, so I bought both a red dot (Primary Arms) and telescopic sight, each one with quick disconnect mount. With the red dot, I can leave the sights up, resulting in 1/3 co-witness, or fold them down for a clear view. With the telescopic sight, to get the proper eye relief, I have to fold down the rear sight (and usually the front, although it really doesn't get in the way). Both work great, and I can still use the irons (okay, plastics) when I want to.
If you don't have the folding sights, then you can still mount a red dot, with or without co-witness. To use a scope, you'll probably have to remove the sights (at least the rear).

True it does depend.. I was thinking of a fold down BUIS model like mine, but some models have fixed sights so yeah, that could change the setup to some degree.

Hi
it always depends on your budget because with an RDS you can spent a lot. I have an AimpointPro and love it.
I can, of course, recommend it as it cowitness perfectly with Magpul MBUS sights, parallax, eye relief and others are near perfect (to me).
But again, it dependes on your budget and the will to dress your "new friend" now...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was hoping there would be some kind of high rise see through mounts like i have on another rifle but guessing it would be to high to properly sight it in on this rifle. I saw someone had mounted a red dot on the side with a 45 degree mount,,,,not sure how userable that is????

Works great actually. Could always get a carry handle with rails on top to afix a scope and you can still use your stock irons.

Very usable. That is the way many 3-gun shooters in Tactical Optics division (including me) add open sights to our rifles along with our low power tactical scopes. Very natural to just rotate the rifle by bringing up the elbow of your strong hand. You can find videos on line of the top 3-gun shooter in the world, the USAMU's Daniel Horner, doing that if you search.
