I recently clamped some mags together with a set of Promag couplers and noticed that when I tightened them up, it seemed that the follower would "grab" in certain areas of the magazine. I loosened up the mounting bolts some and the problem seemed to go away. I think they should still be tight enough to prevent the mags from slipping. I have not had a chance to actually do any shooting with them. Just wondering if anyone had the same problem? I'm guessing with polymer mags you just can't crank down on them too hard before flexing the magazine.

Yep, exactly the same problem here with the Promag couplers. If adjusted, they work okay but I have had one situation in a recent comp where having the coupler loosened (to allow free feeding) resulted in it slipping down causing a bit of a fumble during a mag change. I've reverted to just using a couple of belt pouches (5.11) to carry spare mags in comps now, rather than rely on couplers.

The couplers do make everything more cumbersome. These were a gift so I decided to give them a try. Not sure it was something I'd have purchased on my own. I don't like the fact that two mags coupled together will no longer fit in my chest rig...

Any "weak" polymer mag will experience this. The 15-22 mags are just fine when going through normal wear and tear. But being tightened into the mag couplers will cause them to bind. Some of the centerfire polymer mags work just fine when the mag couplers are tight, but the 15-22 mags do not. The couplers should be used closer to the bottom of the magazine, but it will prevent you from being able to stagger the magazines to prevent ejecting issues. I would recommend trying a couple different set ups to see what works best for you and your rifle.

Get some double sided tape and place a strip inside each side of the couplers. Arrange the stagger of your mags and tighten down the screw to seat the tape joint to lock them in. Then back off the screw and tighten down to a point where the mags reliably feed. When you find that point, place a drop of blue locktite on the threads were the exit the nut and allow it to seep in and cure. I have had mine coupled this way for a long time now, run several matches this way and they haven't slipped or failed due to the set-up.

I should slap myself for not thinking of the double sided tape! That's the kind of fix I'm usually known for. DS Tape is second only to Duct Tape in usefulness.

I use the stuff that you install golf club grips with. Make sure it's the sticky, non-water soluble stuff. It's thinner and holds solid. You won't notice it even being there.
