Surprising find at Wally-World this evening ...
Found a 2,000 round box with ammo can at WalMart tonight. Before the madness I had never seen them before. It was $91.77 before tax. They had about 7 of them left ... if the warden will approve I will pick up another box tomorrow.

My wife wanted me to make a run to the store this evening and I was like yeah right.....then I saw this thread and my as was at walmart within minutes. No luck but there is a space on the shelf for the the 1000 round boxes for $47. I'll have to keep my eye out. Thanks for the heads up. I did pick up a brick of Am Eagle for $22 at the LGS today. They had two cases but were limiting quantities. At least they don't jack up their prices.

I would not have bothered to ask, either. That way you'll never hear the dreaded word, NO!

Are those the wax coated ones? We have had them at our store a few times before. Never got them though since I heard they along with the wax coated remingtons, are not as good to use because they can foul up the rifling pretty good. Just make sure you give the barrel a good scrub to clean out the rifling after using it alot.

I checked them out, they seemed just like the Winchester Super X 40 gr. to me. They do not feel excessively waxy to me. The CCI Blazers to me are the heavy on the wax "lube". I clean every 500 rounds or so, so I dont expect a problem. I have heard good things about them.

Dick's had at least 3 of those today, but the price was a little higher. They seem to be getting ammo in again, hopefully the xmas rush was part of the problem. I thought about going back and getting all of them. Gunbroker has a bid of $200 on it. Winchester M-22 2000rd Factory Sealed Can .22LR : Rifle Ammunition at GunBroker.com

Virtually all .22 ammo has a thin wax coating. If it's a problem, it most likely caused by improper storage somewhere along the line. Maybe God loves me more than the rest of you, but in something around 500k over the years, I have never had any particular problem with wax. Then again, I don't go 5k between barrel cleaning, either.

When it comes to some things in life, my motto has always been "It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission." Ammo at good prices in high-demand times always fall under this category.

I do not complain about shoes and purses, my wife does not complain about guns.
Seriously, though, I'm very fortunate. The morning after the election, she was up early to hear the news. She woke me and said "Looks like you better get that rifle you wanted".

Sounds like the perfect woman. Congrats. My woman is very similar. I don't care what she spends on her "art" and she doesn't bother me with my "toys". (as long as all the bills are paid)
