I passed on the Cabela's CCI AR Tactical due to shipping cost and limit... glad to see that others are passing too. Hopefully we are getting out of this "shortage" and people are going to quit paying ridiculous prices for 22LR.

I passed as well. Between shipping cost and tax it wasn't worth it for only (1) box. I refuse to pay anything over .08 round.

If you need 9mm ammo Cabelas has Federal in stock limit 5. I bought 5 boxes of 9mm and 1 375 pack of .22 to offset the shipping cost.

The inventory system can be stubborn and not update correctly. Only after repeated calls to Walmart HQ did the store I went to finally get their stock updated properly.

On a side note: It appears that some Walmart stores are receiving more ammo then others. It isn't that the Walmart app is better at showing availability, it's the area that's better. I seriously doubt that the app is using a different inventory system.

I just registered because I wanted to say thanks for the heads-up on the Walmart app, though I will probably stick around.

Been looking for non-price gouging .22 ammo for awhile now. I always end up late to the party. lol

Read the info about the app last night at work, downloaded it, and lo and behold, my store said in stock. Got off of work at 630 this morning and headed straight over there. At 715 I finally found someone willing to check the truck, and no dice. A bit disappointed, I was walking away when the Sporting Goods guy came to his section with a cart full of various ammo. He asked me if I am the one asking for .22.

Why yes I am!

And I got my 3 boxes! Yay!

It is Remington 225 round box for $10.

It works for me, and is 775 rounds that I did not have before.

Yep did an order for the cci and 3 boxes of 9mm. all 4 were in stock, but checked my account an hour later and it showed backordered.

Went ahead and cancelled the order and the order for the CCI swamp people that had been on backorder since 1st of feburary.

Scored 2 boxes of Blazer bulk at my local range yesterday at slightly higher than i like price, so i should be good.

Now to start on 9mm.

When they have a limit of one online I was able to call it in to cabelas and they let me do 5 boxes and also a store pick up. They are also able to pull real time stock and let you know over the phone if they have it for you right there to ship or pick up from store in 5-7 days. A little tip for everyone on ordering from cabelas as I have learned from my father working at cabelas.

I also registered just to say thanks for the info on the Walmart app. Woke up this am and did a quick search and saw some 22lr at my local store. Ran over real quick and was able to get the last two boxes of Remington 225ct golden. Clerk said she had 10 boxes at 7:30 and I got the last two at 7:45. Three cases of 223 sold out in 3 minutes. Gotta get there by at least 7 to be in line. Thanks!

It's an app for Android and iPhones. You download from your phone using the Google Play Store app, or the iPhone's App Store app on your phone (search for "walmart" in the store app). It's similar to the Walmart.com website and shows stocking status.

Only the mobile app pulls up stores nearby automatically if you have GPS enabled on your phone. It also will check availability by clicking on the option. On the website I have to keep typing in my zip code even though I already have a "My store" selected. So checking availability is much faster.

Internet at work is somewhat slow too so the site is even more aggravating. Wonder if by actually logging into your walmart account will stop it from continually asking for your zip code?

But just know the mobil app seems to be much quicker and easier.

Same message I got, need to buy a lottery ticket. Went to Sportsmans Warehouse this morning at 6:30 to get a number for their weekly allocation at 9:00...... 200 plus people in line already !!!!!!I came home without a number.

I've been using Walmart's stocking database for the last 2 weeks. Here is what I know to be true.

1) at some point in the early morning, the stock for all stores updates (at least in the Midwest, I assume same for entire USA) with what is on their shelves plus what is on the truck destined for their store.
2) the data is real time or very close to real time.
3) sometimes walmart stores misplace ammo
4) If something shows "in stock" it's either a) on the shelf in the store b) sitting in a special place somewhere else in the store, usually back in the warehouse c) waiting to be unloaded from the truck d) on a truck on its way to the store.

Call your local store(s) and find out how they handle the truck. I strongly suggest talking to a manager. In some stores, even if the truck arrives at noon, it isn't unpacked until midnight, and might not show up on the shelves until the next morning. One of my local stores holds on to the ammo of the day until 7am the next morning in order to be "fair to everyone".

Here's my dilemma... and I am sure others may share something similar. My wife works at a Walmart here in Philadelphia. Philly Walmarts no longer carry ammo (even though some ammo will show 'in stock' and 'partial stock' on the website, lol). I can get a 10% discount at Walmart because of that so it's great to get really cheap ammo. One Walmart I can go to when they get ammo in is around 10 minutes away. The associate will text me and other customers when he gets stuff in so I have to get there fast but that Walmart doesn't get ammo in very frequently and when they do they get very little stock so it's next to impossible for me. The other Walmart is 1/2 hour away. So when I see them having stock for any chance in hell of me getting anything from them they would have to hold it for me. It sells within minutes when they put it out. So again, it's next to impossible for me. I really have to get lucky and get the right person who will put 3 boxes aside for me. Incidentally Dicks is right next door to the Walmart my wife works at. The problem with that is they put out ammo at 9am on Mon and Fri when they get stock, and it's sold within 5 or 10 minutes. I have to work so I cannot get there in time.

It's tough, but it looks to be getting better slowly but surely. Thanks to this thread I was able to get some .22 ammo online and I did score 3 boxes of Rem 225 pack last night thanks to that Walmart associate putting them aside for me.

I tend to believe that Walmart employees are setting most of it aside for friends and scalpers.Just the nature of shortages.

arjay, I am not sure how the other Walmart's do it but ours plays fair. My son and one of our friends work at there. They are not allowed to set any on the side for anybody (including themselves). If they choose to purchase it, it has to be on OFF hours and they are limited to 3 boxes per day (total, not 3 of 1 caliber and 3 of another) just like any other customer. About the only advantage they have is knowing it's there. I can tell you that the shipments have been coming in "somewhat" regularly, and there are always people waiting in line to get ammo.

I didn't say all Walmart employees I've had some that were really helpful I've managed to score 3465 rds in 2 trips but I've seen a few try to hide it until ya call them on it.
