Anybody out there have a sightmark ultra shot on their 15-22? I'm wondering if it will absolute cowitness with mbus sights? Thanks for reading!!

I have that sight, and it cowitnesses with the stock iron sights. So if the stock iron sights co-witness with the mbus, then you should be good to go.

I think I understand what co-witness means. I'm visualizing looking through one sight setup through another. Am I right here? Can someone post pictures and explain a practical application and why? I would greatly appreciate it.

I just can't imagine that you could actually line anything meaningful up and I really don't understand why you would even want to.

Absolute co-witness is when your sights and the red dot are in the exact same spot. You look through the sights, and the red dot is right on top of the sights.

Lower 1/3 co-witness is when the iron sights are 1/3 of the way down the window of the optic, allowing the red dot to be seen above the iron sights.

Hence the "lower 1/3rd" of the optical window is where you see the iron sights.

To Co-Witness an optic on a gun means that even if the electronic systems are down, your flip up iron sights can be used as a mechanical backup to an electronic failure. These sights will normally show up in the lower1/3, or center, of your electronic dot system and remain visible in the event of a down optic.
