From what I've read on this forum, Promag magazines for the 15-22 seem to be pretty reliable, and since OEM S&W magazines aren't available, most people have been buying Promag. I am just curious, since the Promag has a higher capacity, and from what I've heard is actually a longer magazine than the 25 round S&W, does the extra length of the Promag prove to be a problem? I can see how if you are bench shooting the extra length might be a problem, but I am just wondering how everyone is coping. Just how much longer is the Promag than the OEM S&W magazine, and is it a problem? I've been trying to be patient and wait on the S&W magazine, but it doesn't seem like it will be available for quite some time.

Yes, the ProMag magazine is longer. Otherwise it would not be possible to put another seven rounds in it. it's at least 1.5 inches longer.

Many do complain about the additional length, especially when shooting from the bench. Personally, it's not worth it for me. You may feel differently.

i have 3-32 rounders. they seem to work fine with the exception of sometimes it leaves the last round in the mag with the bolt open. the bolt catch just needs a little bit of material removed, other than that i'm very happy with them.

My ProMags have worked flawlessly since I got them. They are quite noticably longer. The OEM 25 rd. mag works well for me when bench shooting with my GripPod, but the ProMags are too long for this. It has not been a problem for me though, as if I want to shoot from the bench, I just use the OEM mag. The ProMags work well for standing, or kneeling while shooting, and the extra capacity is nice.

Be careful with terminology ...

The bolt catch is the part of the rifle that holds the bolt back. It is the tab on the rear of the magazine's follower that needs to be trimmed slightly.

Just recently purchased 5 of the pro mags 2 32 rounders & 3 10 rounders that I converted to 32, went to friends house today and ran some ammo through all 5 with only 1 problem and I think that was a loading issue on my part, then loaded and shot them all again worked fine then loaded again twice with just 10 rounds each just to see if It would either leave last round or fail to hold bolt open after last round which it never did at all today. As for being longer yes they are but it never effected me, if not standing or kneeling we shoot from a folding table as bench so I just positioned rifle back a little so mag hung behind table, grip bipod still worked well. I feel they Load the same as factory mags. I am happy with them.
Also this was the first chance I had to get out and shoot since rifle went to S&W for warranty service last month worked fine, shoot about 400 rounds time to clean it good now.
