Took my 15-22 out to shoot today and I forgot...

I cleaned all of my guns last night until 2 am, woke up early to go buy some staples and targets at Walmart at 5:05 am. I put everything I was taking on tables in the garage in order to not forget anything. I woke up my teenage daughter to accompany me. Have you ever woken up a teenager during their Spring break? Then, when my friend and his daughter got here, we piled in and drove for a bit up some forest trails to my favorite shooting spot. We finally get there and I get out of my Jeep and reach for all of my gun case keys and realize that I left them on the bathroom counter! Yup, what an IDIOT!

I called my wife, buttered her up, made some promises, and she agreed to meet me at the trailhead next to the highway with the keys. Mind you, she loves to sleep in on her days off. I guess she is a keeper.

I almost forgot the best part, I left my friend, his daughter, and my daughter at the shooting spot with all of the gear and guns in locked cases when a mountain lion decided to wander by about 30 yards away. You should have seen their faces when I got back!

Yep done that before drove 3 hours to wife’s granddad’s house got there got everything out and realized I left the trigger lock keys home. Being one to not want to mess up my firearms I only got to shoot my and my wife's ccw pistols needless to say I have keys on all my key chains now so whatever vehicle I take will have a key, so I will probably forget the ammo or mags next time. It's heck getting old.. I sure hated to bring home 2000 rounds of ammo of various calibers.

We still had a blast even though things did not start off that well. My friend and his daughter had never gone shooting before. I brought three handguns, two rifles, and the 15-22. They tried shooting all of them, and as usual, only wanted to shoot the 15-22 at the end. I swear 15-22's have some kind of wicked mojo going on because everyone likes shooting them.

As for my next trip out, I am going to start using a checklist in order to not leave anything behind because I always forget something.

That would be a hunt. But, I would be afraid that the sucker would sneak up behind me and chow down on my chunky-liscious body.
