New M&P 15-22 FDE, wrong Magazine included.
Wonder if anyone has heard of this before, I just purchased a 15-22 MOE FDE, it was supposed to come with FDE Magpul Furniture and a 25 round FDE Magazine. I ordered it online from a pretty popular store. When I picked it up from the FFL I opened the box and there was a black 10 round mag in there. I called the company right away and they stated that they ship it right from the S&W and it must have been shipped to them that way.
What are your thoughts here, any suggestions? I emailed S&W as well, but probably wont hear back for a day or two. Kind of pissed since if I want to complete the rifle as intended I have to spend 100 on gunbroker (not gonna do it), but still really upsetting.

Possible, but doubtful. When I bought one of my grandsons a 15-22 there was no mag at all. The dealer said it came that way - didn't believe him because the seals on the box had already been cut when he brought it out. Needless to say, he came up with the requisite 25-round magazine.
Just another reason I don't buy online. I visually inspect anything I buy, including field stripping it. If the dealer objects, I take my money elsewhere.

BAD when you can't trust a dealer. I'm the same way even if the box is still sealed. Ya never know until you look. I can field strip a weapon before a dealer can blink and say no

I will give S&W a call in the morning. The box was taped shut, so it may have just been a mistake. For the hell I gave the guy on the phone, if he had one he would have come up with it for sure. I will do some more research on them, not sure if I allowed to name them on here, plus, dont want to tear them up if I dont know what really happened here.
THANKS!!

It could be that S&W is intentionally shipping them with the black mags due to the shortage. Since they have a large back order I'd think that the fde mags would be second to the black ones that go into 99% of their models. Hope they make it right. GL.

I doubt S&W is shipping out black mags with FDE versions.. Thats dumb on their part.. They are charging extra for a model and them not including it makes no sense. I would assume they wouldnt ship out the FDE model if they didnt have the stuff to complete the order.. I have heard of alot of gunshops opening transfers and taking the high cap mags and replacing them with 10 rnders.. Its odd that the FDE goes missing and you get a shorty black one.. You might have a shady dealer... Lemme ask ya this.. Is your dealer marking up ammo 150% too?

I'm betting it was either a mistake at S&W or they are running out of FDE 25 mags. Is it a 10 round long or short?

Easy enough for a Dealer to re-tape,play dumb and you'd never know. Those mag would be worth a LOT more on the "open market" to him. And who's to know...

Hey that happened to me but opposite of what happened to you... luck was on my side and the LGS swapped it out and I got a black one... if I wouldn't have open the box and checked it "all" out I never would have known...

Well, i did some digging on ebay, the 10 rounder is selling for well over a $100... they must be allowing 10 rounds on there, i had a pmag listing pulled off last week. After 50 other people sold them.

If your ten round is a shorty, I'll swap you a 35 round FDE mag.

Maybe the happy ending is that you get your new FDE magazine before too long, and you have a black one as well, free of charge. For what you've been thru, S&W would be crazy to ask you to return it ... (or expect it to be returned).
I'd suggest once all is done to just spray paint the black magazine FDE if you cannot bear the thought of having a black magazine on your FDE model.

Why does everyone charge more for the FDE MOE when the black MOE is the same MSRP? Availability?

I've seen stock photos on S&Ws website of an FDE model with a black mag. Maybe they sold them that way for a while.

Browning51,
Tactical Vantage usually has 10 round long mags in stock for only $17.99 last time I checked. These can easily be changed to 32 round mags.
Just an FYI.

Glad S&W took care of it. However, the stinking DEALER should have jumped all over it. That is why they have a dealer net work.

You may not want to deal with them again, but you might want to consider telling the store owner exactly what you think of their service.
