Barrel Shroud Pics
Hey guys and girls. I want to install a barrel shroud on my 15-22. Lots of different options out there. Any of you with shrouds that are willing to post pics and help me decide on one? I know we all love showing are 15-22s off. Well here's another opportunity! Thanks!

Does someone make one for threaded barrels that has the threads on the opposite end so it will slide into the rail?

Whoa. Just realized I live about 30-45 minutes from Kinetitech. May just have support my local business. They have some pretty sweet options, plus I can customize my own.

Or vice versa, anodize the ends red and keep the tube black.

You might want to wait a couple weeks, just got off the phone with them and they said they are coming out with a few more tube styles in 2 weeks. Their "Gen2" tubes will be interchangeable with all the different end caps they have.

Troy Industries
It required some modification, but I'm glad I went with Troy on this. It's the nicest looking option IMO, and it's rotation limited.

So is anything inside the shrouds protecting the barrel? Or is it just metal on metal? Or is there a bit if a gap to where the inner part of the shroud doesn't actually touch the barrel?

Mine have an air gap behind where they contact the barrel on the non-threaded shrouds,.
There is an air gap behind the 3/4" of threads on the threaded barrel shrouds.
Only one end is closed, the other end is completly open.
If you have a second "cap" the ATF considers that a suppressor because there is a chamber between the two ends.
You will have to pay the $200.00 tax and fill out all the forms for a suppressor, for a shroud that does not suppress.

Just was checking their site again and sure enough, they are in the process of updating their site with the Gen2 end caps and barrel shrouds. This is an awesome idea as you can now mix and match the barrel tubes with end caps. The new barrel tubes are not up yet but it seems like they are still adding to the end cap section.

Does the weight of the shroud make the rifle feel unbalanced? If so, have any of you done anything to the rear to even out the weight a bit?

The 15-22 is pretty much muzzle-light. If anything, the few ounces additional up front will enhance stability.

I agree 110% with this. It's not that follow up shots were that difficult before I added mine, but they are insanely easy and accurate now that I have. It eliminated any recoil / muzzle rise completely (ymmv).

Does the muzzle end cap screw off from the rest of the tube or is it all one machined piece?
I know the Gen2 are supposed to be able to be taken apart but was wondering if the Gen 1 do the same but are maybe glued together or if it's just a one piece.

Glad you were to fund some valuable input here. I still haven't ordered my shroud yet. Decided to add a red/green dot sight first.

So Eric with Kineti-tech was nice enough to hook me up with a bare shroud for my project. Had to wait a bit since I had just missed getting one before they were sent to get anodized. He was even nice enough to send a few pics of it being made. They started the new batch with the model I wanted which was cool.
I think I might have to keep it bare metal for a while for the bling factor before I get it anodized. =)

You can get signed up for their notifications, I've had things that were OOS NBO that were expected around that same time frame that came in stock earlier than expected. It also helps to have your eyes glued to the email screen. They are vultures out there
