White lettering on receiver?
I noticed that some 15-22 pictures show white lettering on the receiver. It looks like the embossed lettering has been filled with white paint. Was this a factory process or has it been done by the owners? Is there a simple instruction for doing this?

There are various methods for white lettering..I chose white nail polish...
Crayon's work OK for awhile, but not for longevity..

I used Sharpie Paint Pens. Make sure you use Non-Acetone Nail Polish remover to wipe away excess. Worked out perfectly.

White nurses shoe polish with a toothpick, then brake cleaner dampened paper towel to remove the excess. Pretty durable.
I spent most of my money on guns, women, and whiskey. The rest, I just wasted.

Personally, not a fan but I never liked white lettered tires either. Honestly, I thought it was something S&W did with the early rifles and then thought better of it.
At least now I know about where and how this look comes about.

Color with a crayon, heat it with a hair dryer, wipe off excess with goo-gone citrus.

Mine is done with a crayon, thanks to the previous owner.
It makes the weapon look too feminine. May as well just go ahead and write Kotex on the side of it. My ole lady seems to think its cute, but what do u expect from a woman. It will be removed as soon as i get the chance.

I used Testors Enamel paints. I highly recommend this method over crayons. All you have to do is paint the rollmarks crudely and then wipe off the excess paint (once dry) without pressing too hard. It's almost impossible to mess it up.
I chose Flat Red and Flat White.

Mentioned above and I will stress again..... Do not use Acetone based products to clean excess paint, crayons, etc. on a Polymer receiver.

BTW, one area that I like this is on the safety. As a lefty shooter it gives you a quick reference.

If one is a lefty, just reverse the selector. It takes all of three minutes.

I haven't tried it but I don't think it works like that. Have you tried it?

Yes, it does work like that.
Loosen the grip screw enough to take the pressure off the selector detent.
Pull the selector out.
Reinsert it in from the other side.
Retighten the grip screw.
It's been mentioned on this forum at least a dozen times.

Crayon stands up just fine over time. It's a .22, and it's not on a high-heat area. I used crayon on my 15-22, but I used nail polish on my M&P40c.
