Default Casing lodged in hammer

Last time I went out shooting I put 650 rounds through mine without a hitch, then I had one 50 round box of cci at the end. My wife was shooting the last mag when she had an ejecting issue. We got everything cleared and started having light strike issues, luckily it was the last mag of ammo we had. When I got home and cleaned it I found a casing lodged in the hammer and the casing was smashed! Any ideas how this happened or has anyone else had this issue? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions!!

Was the brass in between the mag well housing and the hammer? I could see that causing light hammer strikes. How it got there, beyond me. But 22lr brass has a habit of ending up in the weirdest places sometimes.

This exact thing happened to me last Monday. It was the first time using my newly acquired M&P 15-22. I was also using CCI ammo. It completely restricted me from firing another round. I had to break it open and fish it on out. Like you, I have no idea how it got back there.

Took it out again this morning and shot through about 300 rounds. Aside from a few stovepipes, no other issues cropped up.

Glad I'm not the only one! Sounds like ours are picky with cci ammo! Were you using more cci this morning or something else?

Yup, I was using the exact same ammo yesterday morning, the AR tactical.
