Quick release for scope?
I just picked up a UTG scope. I wanted to find a mount that would let me quick release and keep zero when put back on. I know I need a 1/2" riser anyways to clear the magpul rear site when it is laid flat. I was going to just pickup a 1/2" riser but thought I should look into the quick release first in case it adds height. Thx for any help!

Depends on the particular QD rings and the scope. They come in low, medium and high. The ones that UTG normally includes with their scopes are mediums and will normally require a .5" riser for a lot of folks. For me and my 3-9x32 CQB scope, the high rings and no riser work just fine.
There are no hard and fast rules; it's a case of try a particular combination and see how it works for you.

1/2" will clear perfectly over the Magpuls.. I have seen the pictures to show it. Mine comes with medium rings. I need to know how I would go about some sort of quick disconnect system so if I want to lose the scope and shoot with the iron's I have that ability. Also would be nice if when I put it back on it would be back at zero but that might be a pipe dream.

The UTG QD rings will return to zero on a metal riser - at least close enough for general shooting. UTG's QD rings are the best value for the dollar there is.

My UTG scope came with the quick release rings, which one do you have. Mine is the 3-9x32, and the quick release rings works like a charm. It has the red, green lighted reticle. The rings are the medium ones, and give a great cheek weld with a .75 riser. They do not co witness with the MagPul sights, but that is the purpose of the quick release, remove the scope to use the irons.

This is the scope I got. Hopefully I got a good one. I wasn't trying to break the bank. If the QD mounts on this are that good I can probably just pickup a plane 1/2" riser and go from there? Thx for the replys!

Same scope here. Probably one of the best compact scopes for the money.
