Non-threaded barrel needs some threads
I have the non-threaded barrel and I really want it threaded. I've seen the adapter from tacticool22 but I haven't seen the reviews or pics. Anyone using one have any closeup pics?
I've also thought about bringing it to get it threaded. Any rough estimates on price range?
And I know someone's gonna ask why I want it threaded, and it's strictly for looks. So no, I don't want to spend a fortune and its not really that important. Just figured if its reasonable why not

Hope these help
If you get the barrel threaded make SURE they indicate the bore and not the barrel. If they look at you funny or say they will use a die...Leave immediately.

The following is just a suggestion. I bought a 15-22 w/ the plain barrel. Then I found out that S&W makes them w/ flash-hiders. Cool. Wanted one. What to do. What to do. First I figured to have the barrel threaded, buy a FH and crush washer and put it on my rifle. Problem... cost of threading and parts would be well over $100 plus shipping, etc.
Then I found a LGS w/ a 15-22 in stock that had the FH. I had a talk w/ the owner who said he'd be willing to do a trade. We swapped and I paid $40 difference. I think I did alright.
Look around at the LGS and see if the owners are as open to doing a swap. It might allow you to get what you want w/o having to spend so much money and wait so long for the work to be done and returned.

Now that's an idea I haven't thought of. I like it and may try it! Thanks!

Try True Shot Technologies. TRUE SHOT TECHNOLOGIES SMITH WESSON 1522 They offer a great slip on for the 15/22. I highly recommend it. Mine was installed and then the set screw heads ground down and filled with epoxy. A quick shot of paint finished the project. See the attached image.

Seems like a good decent option. Do the set screws stick out after installation? I figured they would be flush or less. And you said "screws" the site says it's only one screw. I know these are maybe silly questions but I had to ask.
Also, last question and maybe the silliest of all. Is the inside of it shiny metal? It almost looked like it on some of the pics

Maybe another option for you is what many of us have done -- add a barrel shroud (fake suppressor). I bought my 15-22 when they first came out, and thought about threading it. I went with the MFI model at rrages.com. I really like the look, and the fit and finish is excellent.

Mine has three set screws. It is a nicely machined product that fits the barrel perfectly. Yes, the set screws will stick up a bit after installation, so I ground them flush. Be sure to use a scotchbrite wheel on a Dremel tool so you don't gouge the flash hider. The hex socket holes were then filled with epoxy. Of course, the grinding took a bit of finish off the flash hider. A shot of matte black paint (mask everything but the flash hider first) finished the job. My rifle looks very close to a factory threaded setup and has held up to thousands of rounds since the installation. Its GTG.
The inside of the flash hider is blued.
IMHO, the threaded barrel adapters look out of place. The TST slip on is much sleeker by design.

I sent my upper with the barrel to Innovative Arms to it threaded. It cost with the shipping back and forth $100. Shipping cost maybe different base on your location.

Yes they did. They finished the job within the 7-10 days they quoted me. I was not in a hurry as I did not have any ammo at the time which what I told them. Google them and you will find their website.

Forum Vendor Belt_Fed threads barrels. He's a Class 7. He threaded my 1522 (when i bought my 1522 there was no threaded 1522 model) and he did a great job. You can see his ad for shrouds in the 1522 Classifieds. I believe he still charges $50 but you'd need to contact him to verify.

Reviving an old thread for a noob question.. I've been kicking around what I was going to do with my 15-22 about my non-threaded barrel. Well tonight I placed an order for Tacticool22's thread adapter, (forgot to order a crush washer, we get a LGS) and will be installing a flash-hider for now. I may install a barrel shroud at a later date..
My question... with an AR15 flash-hider work with a 15-22? Here's a link..
Thanks
Dave.
Note: the link is to a 308, but I'm going to order the 223 hider...

Yes, it will fit. Considering that there is very little muzzle flash from a .22 LR rifle in the first place, the addition of a flash hider is 99 percent cosmetic.

Absolutely, the same as a fake suppressor. I just don't like flat end look on a AR style rifle, and I'd like to add 2+" of length to the end so it's stands in my gun safe a little better.
