Aftermarket Mags
Does any have any recommendations for aftermarket mags for 15-22 or should I stick with S&W?

There are (were) only two third-party suppliers, Plinker Tactical and ProMag. Although both brands can still be found on shelves occasionally, both companies have ceased production and sales due to being sued by S&W for patent infringement.
That said,if you can find some ProMags, buy them as they are top notch. Plinker Tacticals, on the other hand, run the gamut from acceptable to trash with no discernable way to find out which before buying.
The only 15-22 mags currently in production are those from S&W.

The major is right about both. You'll probably have to pay a premium for Pro-mags now but they are excellent and they hold 32 rounds. I have several and may get more while I still can. I also have a PT and I use it for a doorstop.

There's also the Black Dog 50rd Drum Mag, which works as well as the stock S&W magazines but offers twice the fun... well perhaps not but the fun lasts twice as long .

Excellent. I found some promag at Abel's ammo for 19.95 each. I ordered 3.

IMO
Stick with the factory mags. They work well and don't make your rifle look like the silhouette of a horse.

The guy in England is incorrect. Both companies have been sued and both companies have ceased production.

Just buy some factory s&w shorty 10rd mags. The 25rd mags are over rated anyways, lol. I cant remember the last time i even loaded my 25rd mags with ammo since I started shooting with the shorty 10rds.

Smith & Wesson v. Brookshire Tool and Manufacturing Company
Lightweight, low cost semi-automatic rifle magazine

One useful aspect for us of the 439' Patent is that is does have very complete disclosure of the details of the 15-22. In fact it describes and teaches more about the aspects of the rifle than the magazine. It would seem that this patent would have a lot of prior art and may not be very strong.
Of course it will cost you a couple of million to find out how strong the patent actually is. How many magazines would you have to sell to find out?

I have several of the Plinker mags, never really had any issues with them. The only prob I had was they are not as fast to load, even with the load assist. I shoot them when I hit the range, but don't reload them till I get home.
Anyway, just my experience...

No, I don't, but if he contacts PT, they can confirm the details. He can advertise all he wants but he will be unable to deliver the product unless PT ships to the UK in violation of the injunction. The injunction precludes manufacturing, not just sales.

Actually, they can although it may not be wise. Any activies would figure into damages assesed IF S&W were to win.
The suit was filed in April 2013, at this point it is unlikely that anything has happened other than the filing and initial exchange and I don't see any evident of an injunction.
There are several paths this could take with the least likely being a lengthy and costly trial. This could be settled by license, mediation or a one time payment of damages all of which would allow them to continue with manufacturing and selling.
They are not necessarily infinging just because S&W says they are. If this went to trial after discovery, Markman Hearing and trial this could likely go on for 4 or 5 years. In these cases the deepest pockets, right or wrong, usually win.
It may make economic sense for them to "Cease and Desist" and negociate a settlement.

First time I EVER heard that ProMags are top notch.
I have always found them to be junk and not worth using.
Over the years when I used ProMag mags, I had nothing but issues with them.
Stick with factory when ever possible. They cost more but you get what you pay for. This is just my opinion!

The polymer ProMag 15-22 mags are top notch ... Which is the exception for them. Their metal mags generally are junk.

I have 2 of the Plinker Tactical they worked good for about 3 trips to the range.
But this last time I had problems with both. Seemed like the back of the round was dragging making the round point upward.
I will only buy & use S&W mags from now on.
