Honestly, once you find an optic you like... chances are you won't use them and they will become "decor".
I have MBUS sights on my 15-22, but rarely use them unless I'm training on them. I have troy sights on my AR, an a set of Dueck Defense RTS sights as well... it just depends on what you're preference is or what you're training for.
If you plan on making yourself use them, you may want to consider 45 degree sights... or if you intend to cowitness them with an RDS, go with the Troy or Magpul.
I for one love my Troy sights, that's why I kept them after getting my RTS set. Whichever you choose... as I said, it's really a personal preference and how you're going to employ them.
Also, the Troy sights have a range of adjustments. The Magpul can only adjust for windage, as with the Dueck Defense sights (which are really just angled factory iron sights to an extent). You can attempt to adjust for elevation on them... but the front sight is better left zeroed in... and that's why they make optics.
If I'm rating them, I put Troy up there in the 1's and 2's range. For RTS, Dueck Defense is the 1's. Magpul are durable and do go with all the other Magpul furnature if you like keeping everything standardized.
Hope it helps.

Which troy sights are going to be the best for your 15-22? That's like asking which Lamborghini looks good in my driveway.
Personally I think troy sights are overkill on a 15-22, any of them will exceed the guns capabilities. I guess it just comes down to which shape you like best, and if you want it to glow in the dark

I agree... they are pricey for the platform and will definitely outlast the weapon in most instances.
You could look at it another way also... the 15-22 can be considered a very powerful air gun by some enthusiasts. In turn, the recoil of the 15-22 is not powerful enough to cause most of the Airsoft or Replica sights to lose zero. Granted, there are some out there that are so cheaply made, they could lose zero if you sneeze too hard... but items like the replica Troy Battle sights are fairly well made at a SUBSTANTIALLY less cost to you.
There are also higher-end True Fiber Trijicon Replica ACOG style optics that even have replica RMR's on them. They are upwards of almost $180... but again, substantially less than the $1800 you would pay normally. They are decently made and would hold zero on most .22lr weapons... for what the general user is employing the weapon to do that is.
Or for the same price, you could go with some of the NCStar, Aim Sports, Bushnell, TruGlo, etc. optics out there that are inexpensive.
Not to get into too much of a TABOO conversation. Of course, these optics on an actual AR would be a nice waste of your money because if they actually withstood the jarring of the weapon, you would be re-zeroing them with every range visit... if not with every magazine.

Yeah, I have some cheap iron sights on my 15-22 that I settled on after trying some replica MBUS, which were awful - the plastic was so soft they crushed when installing on tightened down the mounting screw. I think what I have are replicas of MI sights, and I'm happy with them even though they aren't finished as well as the originals.

Definitely... the Magpul PTS sights and even the Cheap Chinese knock-offs are very noticeable. They don't sit flush with the rail, the springs are faulty, the retention doesn't snap back into place all the time, etc.
I had a pair of "replica" Troy sights a while back and they actually worked well (on my 15-22). I wouldn't have used them on my actual AR because I fear they would have worked themselves apart.
Nothing beats the real thing... but if you're on a budget and looking for some that will at least function on a 15-22... other than the iron sights that come with it... you can find some that will hold up.
When you're hurting, it's always easier to spend $50 than $200... though, I would prefer spending $200 once on the real thing, than spending $50 four times (replacing them) and still have cheap sights, having spent the cost of the real thing in the long run.

I agree with not using replica sights on a 5.56 rifle. I have a M&P15x which came with a troy rear folding battle sight that I've been very impressed with (front sight is A2 post).
I got the first set of knock of MBUS for $10, and the replica MI sights for $20 , so I'm not out a lot. The $20 sights are metal (no more plastic sights for me unless they are authentic) and should outlast the 15-22 I have them on, mostly cause I won't use them much - have a red dot optic that gets most the use which is why I needed folding sights. I was otherwise happy with the factory sights. The factory sights aren't particularly pretty, but they are rock solid and having elevation and windage knobs that are so easy to make adjustments on right there on the rear sight... very nice.
I think I got a pretty good pair of $20 folding irons for my 15-22. In the reviews some people complained about them not folding flat. My front one folds absolutely flat and the rear one is pretty close. Front is an A2 style and uses the standard tool to adjust for elevation with a windage knob moving the rear, dual apperature. I would definitely recommend looking at that type of sight for a 15-22, particularly if it's going to be a true back up to some other optic.

My experience with "cheap" folding sights: not so good. Nor cheap.

Light plastic MBUS perfectly compliments the 1522, IMO.

Agreed. Just make sure to get authentic ones. The set is still less than one troy sight.
I would have gone that route myself, except I'm outfitting my 15-22 on the super cheap.

You can spot the fake MBUS sights by them not sitting flush on the rail... (They sit up at almost a 30 degree angle), and they have a totally different screw set holding the main hinge together. MBUS's screw is a flat-head with a hole in the center... fake MBUS's have no hole.
Also, Magpul makes a training set... called PTS (Professional Training Simulation) of all of their products (almost) - Even items like the MS3 sling. They are close to the real thing... but made from a different polymer. They are a viable option on the 15-22, but for the extra $10 bucks or so each, I would just go with the real thing. Though Magpul has discontinued this line because of all of the counterfeit items out there. They were typically marked with PTS instead of MOE.

This place has them listed in stock; Smith & Wesson M&P AR Factory Original Parts no idea who they are or if they're reliable.

Just to clarify. With a set of MBUS, the rear is adjustable for windage, and the front for elevation. As long as you're not pairing the rear with a fixed front (and I'm assuming OP isn't because he's looking for a set), you'll be able to adjust for both.
I have MBUS on all my ARs (paired with Vortex SPARCs), as I wanted quality sights at a reasonable price. At ~$75 pair, I'm perfectly happy with the thought of them working when I need them. Couldn't imagine spending $280 on the S&W pair to have them just sitting around most of the time.

I once lost the mounting screw and clamp for my Troy rear battle sight. Looked all over gun shops and the internet for a replacement, with no luck. I gave Troy a call directly to see if they could help. They shipped the 2 parts to me free, didn't even charge shipping.
Looks like they had a brain fart and huge error in judgment. They did, however, reverse course and IMO make things right. They've treated me right, their products are solid and I would still buy from them again. That little incident hiring Wies might actually have done some good in encouraging them to not only be more vigilant about who they hire but also in being more vocal about supporting gun rights - we might have just gained a more vocal advocate in Troy from that snafu.

...and then they hired Dale Monroe. He's still working there.

They may be trying to curry favors with powerful others by hiring "their idiot nephews". Stranger things have happened where business has to interface with activists or pols.
