Default Brass Catcher

Looking to buy a brass catcher for my 15-22. Searched the M&P forums and the Caldwell brass catcher was mentioned but not really talked about. Opinions on it or others? Not sure if the Caldwell is specifically for the 15-22 or not though and that's why I ask.

I have one, got it on Amazon for like $12 at the time I bought it and I LOVE it! No more picking up tiny little .22 brass for an hour after shooting. Most definitely worth buying.
The only thing I did was slightly bend the metal where it attaches to my handguard to make it a fit a little bit tighter.. It hasn't failed to catch a single casing yet, although I only put maybe 1000 rounds through the gun since I got it.

You guys actually pick up your 22 long rifle brass? Are gun club doesn't require us to pick up anything that size.

Made this one out of a fish net and an adjustable light stand... works for most positions except prone

If you really want one that works this is it. I have one with multiple mounts for my center fire ARs:

3 BUCC Inc AR-15/M16 Brass-Savr (Brass Catcher)

I have the same Caldwell catcher. I think I paid around $12 for it also with shipping. I bought it because my wife doesn't like .22 brass all over our back deck, and in our mulch .

The 22lr is shot in quantities greater than 9mm, 223 and all other ammo sizes COMBINED. So, just because its small and not reloadable means its insignificant and not worth cleaning up after yourself? I assume that someone at the gun club cleans it up for you then, otherwise the range would be littered with 22lr casings.

Brass can be recycled. Some even pay decently for brass casings. You can use that to offset some of the ammo costs......

Just my $0.02.

I've got several - the one I have for my AR has a velcro strap that goes around the hand guard and it is a bit tricky to keep it working without interfering with the case ejection - of course .223 cases are a bit larger - I am probably going to get one of the type with the rail attachment - should keep it in a better position more consistently than the velcro style.

Has anyone used this one from Caldwell that mounts to the picatinney rail of a flat-top AR?

Caldwell® Caldwell® Ar 15 Pic Rail Brass Catcher
Caldwell Brass Catcher AR-15 Picatinny Rail Mount Nylon Mesh Black

I'm considering getting this one. It's basically the same concept as the 3 BUCC one above, but with a mesh bag that I like better and can be had for $40 or so.

I'm getting one. Thanks for posting.

The velcro one I have works, but I hate the way it mounts. It likes to twist and droop when it gets a few casings in it which causes jamming issues.

Well, I didn't say it doesn't get picked up, a couple of times a year they go and police it up somehow, I haven't been there for that. I go out with my 32 inch wide sweeper magnet and pick up the metal casings folks miss often myself.

Undecided as to which one I want still. I am a lefty so would any of the suggestions above interfere with shooting? Also looking into something removable. Any other suggestions for lefties?

I can sell a 5-gallon bucket of .22 brass at the scrap yard for $100.

It pays for powder.
Check the price of scrap yellow brass in your neck of the woods.
You might start sweeping it up, too.

I always pick up my brass (any caliber). Several years ago I took a 5 gallon bucket of .22 brass to the scrap yard and received $86.00 for my trouble. Helps pay for reloading components.

The new Caldwell catcher and the one from 3bucc won't interfere with left-handed shooting and are easily removable.

Do you want to catch the brass or keep it from hitting your right forearm? I use a Simple Weapon Solutions brass deflector on my 15-22.

I'm saving mine for when I start swaging my own jacketed .224 projectiles.

Mostly to catch the dang brass so I don't have to spend an hour picking up the dang things. I can handle a burn or two. First time out a month or so ago I got burned a few times.
