Barrel Blocks or Vise Grips in AZ?
Anyone local to NW PHX have a set of barrel blocks or barrel vise grips? trying to get my flash hider off and i'm too much of a wuss with my rifle to take a pair of channel locks to it. and i can't talk myself into buying a set for 1x use when there are so much more fun things to waste my $ on...

You could try a couple 2X4 or anything you can get to tighten so the barrel doesn't turn. I've hear some say they work.
Tacticool22 sells them on his site if you can wait and want to buy them.

i saw tacticool22's set and read about them on the forum. they look great, but...for me, the only motivation higher than supporting local business is the motivation to spend every last cent i have on ammo.

There are a few tools and accessories that everyone who owns a 15-22 should have. A good set of barrel vise jaws is one. A barrel nut wrench is another.
Trust me, you'll use them more than once.

You tried having someone hold onto the barrel (not the upper) while you give a wrench a hard whack? Sometimes that is all it needs. Slow, steady pressure doesn't work well without a vise, but the quick hard hit on a wrench sometimes does the trick.

A set of barrel blocks is handy to have. Mine are 2 short (4" or 5" long) pieces of common 2x4 that I clamped together and drilled a 5/8" hole down the joint line, across the grain. Cost almost nothing and the 5/8" hole makes for a nice crush fit on the barrel.

i did the same a simple fix and the 5/8" hole gives more area contact, than just using 2 blocks undrilled......clamp tight in a vice and using the correct size spanner (wrench)a sharp but gentle tap with a hammer on the wrench and bingo its off

same here with the wood, why spend money? mine slipped a little so i used a hot glue gun and an old bike tire inner tube cut into 2 strips to fit in the channels and locket it in..perfect. regular open end wrench and you are GTG. it does not have to go on so gorilla tight when you want to put it back on, just a little past hand tight.
