Default Cabela's

So any guesses on when Cabela's is going to start selling more ammunition online?

Seems like people are finding the ammo in their stores. They might be directing it there rather then online.

When did Cabela's stop selling ammunition online? I haven't noticed that they quit selling ammunition online...

All's I ever find is WMR stuff and occasionally something Tac but nothing as far as Blazers, etc. I don't have a Cabela's store anywhere near me and Wally World is a county or so away from me. Not familiar with subsonics either. Would that be something to try?

A lot of times an item will be in stock but won't show up if you just go to their website and click on Ammunition etc.

A bunch of people post links to available 22lr ammo in this thread:
OFFICIAL (IN STOCK) 22LR AMMO THREAD

You can look there every once in a while to see if there is anything at normal prices. Sometimes people post links to cabela's website there. You've got look often and be quick. There is usually a 1 box limit of 22lr, which I guess you're looking for since you're in the 15-22 section.

And there are also some sites that have links to available ammo and show prices per round etc. I started to post a link to one but I think it might be breaking the rules of this forum, not sure.

I saw there were some CCI standard velocity available on cabelas website earlier today but were out of stock when I saw the new link to them. I was lucky enough to get a couple of those a month ago or so. Good luck.

Gander Mountain just had blazers on their site about a half hour ago for $1.99 a box, thats 4 cents a round. They didn't last long but they were there. They even were posted on gunbot. Natchez also had Federal American Eagle at $2.49 a box on gunbot about 5 hours ago. Thats about 5 cents a round so there is stuff out there. You just have to keep looking at different sites and be ready to act quick to get it.

With my luck getting something at that price is impossible. Amazing how people get things at that good of a price so quick. Not sure how they do it when the ammo is gone by the time gunbot even lists it. The shipping charges alone are enough. Any companies have decent shipping costs?

I've looked at the midway site tonight and noticed they have Aguila subsonic at a really good price although shipping is probably an arm and a leg. If I can get subsonic at that good of a price I suppose it's worth a try.

All I shoot is subsonic. All high end 22lr target ammo is subsonic, as it is more accurate as it does not get buffeted when passing thru the sound barrier. The 22lr is an old round & not really well designed to pass thru cleanly, like say a .223.

Also, most of us that use suppressors shoot subsonics exclusively. I mainly shoot CCI standard velocity but have used the Aguila with no problems... except for it having a rather odd smell.

To mangle a line from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", Heck, RedNeck Jim, the pleasin' aroma is half the point!

Each to his own.

One of my favorite smells is a wet horse. I have always been fascinated that during WWII, one of the patriarchs of the German Krupp family (German equivalent of the American Rockefeller or Ford families) found the smell of manure invigorating and built his office over a stable with vents that let the smell waft up into his office.

I searched this forum last night and found a really good thread about subsonic. I think it's worth a try.

Does anyone know any online companies that have reasonable shipping costs? There are quite a few companies on GunBot but most of them have a horrible shipping cost. I'm particularly looking for Blazer and Federal bricks as my 15-22 loves those.

FWIW, if you buy from MidwayUSA, see what shipping will cost you on your order. Then before submitting the order, go to their "free shipping items" section and find something you might like/need for $5.00 or so. Usually just putting that in your cart will drop the shipping cost by the cost of said item (approximately.) This really won't change anything other than make you smile inside knowing that MidwayUSA just gave you a free gift for doing business with them. Seems like I end up getting a free Delta Dart every time I order from them....

I refuse to play the game of running after every box or brick of ammo that pops up... then paying freight & handling on each little purchase. Most of my ammo has been bought in case lots of 5000, except for a few 1000 packs of M-22. I got a case of the Norma from Midway a few months back but looks like now they have been limiting it to bricks, as it comes in stock.

I have gotten a couple of cases of CCI thru gunbroker.com. Their standard velocity is my preferred ammo & I got it for just a bit over .10 each. .10 or a little more is my limit on getting good ammo. I note right now on gunbroker you can buy now a case of 5000 Blazer for $559. Normally the shipping isn't too bad... especially when you consider the volume of ammo you are getting.

I have a home range & shoot a bunch. I don't mind paying a bit of a premium so as to not have to worry about hunting for ammo. At 10 to 11 cents each, that is still a lot cheaper than shooting my AR. Works for me but may not be enough of a value for others.

Thank you for the heads up and I did buy it. It'll be split between two family members.

I just left the Cabela's in Fort Worth, TX. They had tons of every caliber of ammo except for .22LR.

Both you and I are in the wrong states. There were several posts lately that people are find bricks of Blazers, etc in the stores. The latest post was in the ammo thread where a post was made that there were cans of 2100 rounds 22lr on the floor in Greenville, SC. Also there was a post that at one of the new stores Cabelas just opened they had Blazer bricks for two days in a row in stock. They didn't last long but they were there.

The Cabela's here in Connecticut hasn't had any .22 LR on the shelves in over a month.

I hear you on not chasing ammo any more, but instead of buying volume I just don't buy at all. I love my 15-22 & it was great fun getting my red dot dialed in, but just not going to play the game any more. I have a few rounds put back to take the Grandson shooting a little, if a friend wants to go or just for varmints.
Other than that it will stay put up. 10 cent a round was the breaking point for me.
Just my opinion , but if you want to price to come down you got to stop paying the high price.
I will spend a little more & spend my time shooting my SD pistol 9mm has come back some. Besides you ain't really going to kill no zombie with a .22lr

The Cabelas in Lone Tree Colorado has had Bricks on the shelf for the past month during the week. I can also catch it online and have it shipped there.

The good/bad thing about this new Cabellas is that it is walking distance (< 30 mins walking) from my place.

The nearest Cabela's is 120 miles away, gander is 70 miles, all the rest are hundreds of miles. Wally world is 20 miles, last time they had any was in April. Be Safe,

I stopped by my local Gander Mountain today to pick up some cleaning equipment and they had Federal Value Packs 525's in stock. This was around 1:30 p.m. I was suprised to see they had any left since it was in their flyer for today, and it was late in the day. I would say they still had at least 40 on the shelf behind the counter when I left. Since my wife was with me I went home with two. The first time I actually walked out of a store with ammo rather then buying online.

I think there are a few things still going on.

You got the neck beards still waiting in line to buy what they can daily.

I'm Pretty sure Ammo MFG only pump out 22 a few times a year so they are in between cycles.

Also there is some rumor that distributors are holding onto most of the 22 and only getting some to the resellers "outside of whats stated in contract" and will see a 5 to 10 dollar increase per brick once contracts are re-negotiated..

Few times a year?!?! CCI alone produces over 4 MILLION rounds of .22 EVERY DAY!

You have to be kidding...the 'cycle' is 24/7, 365 days a year.
