m&p 15-22p discontinued?
I read on a few forums that they discontinued the m&p 15-22p.
However I emailed S&W and the reply I got was that they are making them. They are in the 2014 book and they forsee no reason to cancel production.
So where did this rumor come from?

No clue but discontinuing them would be a horrible business decision

I haven't heard anything about this. I was at cabelas about a month ago and they had the performance center 15-22 on clearance for $575. I wish I would of got one for they price, as they sold out in 2 days. Gentleman behind the counter told me the 15-22 was not moving in their store at all.

Hard to sell a gun when you can't stock the ammo needed for it.

That has been discontinued for a while. If you look at S&W web page, the 15-22p is shown in the archived products.

I believe you're thinking of the 15-22 pistol as being discontinued, not the 15-22 performance center rifle?? I think the p is messing with everyone.

It shouldn't. The 15-22p is a pistol that has been discontinued. That item number has nothing to do with a performance center rifle.

S&W may have been misunderstanding and thinking you were talking about the M&P 22, not the M&P 15-22p. The former is the regular M&P series 22 pistol, the latter is the pistol version of the 15-22 rifle.

And I'm pretty sure they clearly didn't hear/understand what you were asking for. You could try asking again and make sure they are absolutely clear on what you are asking, and that the person you talk to knows the difference between the M&P22 and the M&P15-22p

Find them new for sale somewhere, and we'll all be convinced.

Our local WalMart has had a S&W Model 15-22 on it's gun rack for the past 2 months so I think sales of 22LR semi auto AR style rifles are slow right now as is the sale of AR-15's in 223. I think it's partly due to the hard time getting 22LR ammo that people are facing and I also think a lot of people bought them when they first came out.
They pulled there Ar-15's off of the shelf and replaced them with kids youth model 22LR bolt action rifles that they said was there most popular seller this past month.

This discussion is about the 15-22P (pistol version of the 15-22).

This is the M&P 15-22P. No longer made.
EDIT. The P ran away so I had to put it back in front of the 15-22 to match the picture I posted.

No, this is the 15- 22P. Note the P suffix, denoting PISTOL. Big difference from the 15-22 rifle, which is definitely still being manufactured.

It is not the Major's job to guess what everyone knows... or doesn't. What you initially stated was wrong. Period. What others stated earlier is also wrong. Period.
This thread is full of folks confusing items numbers or making mistakes typing them..

Im happy people saw the p for pistol. For a month now Ive been on the hunt for a pistol barrel or pistol upper.
Like I said. I cant cut my barrel up here in Canada. The barrel needs to be a manufactured barrel to legally import and use.
hanks all for your posts.

Just because I posted a picture of the 15-22 P and didn't put the P in front of it made me wrong? Sorry I guess you and the major are the forum police huh? You guy always flame people for the dumbest things. People are here for info and to learn stuff. A good respond to my post from major should have been this way.
" Hey AR-Getsome. The pic is right but the info you wrote should have a P in front of 15-22. "
But some guys don't have that kind of respect. Some of your post are good, and some show no respect. End of discussion because now this is all off topic.

But if the info is incorrect, as your post was, albeit inadvertently, then it needs to be pointed out. No one was flaming. Sorry your feelings got hurt.

Its almost like they have nothing else to do.
To the ones who add info to the posts, thank you! Youve been very helpful.

They make clips for our guns?????
Lol the new hc3r mags work ok but its only 20 rounds and then you have to add 5 if you want a full mag.
I wish there was a double stack mag for this gun. The 35 rounder must be crazy long. I wonder if there is a way of making a reliable teardrop mag. I have read that the 10/22 version has issues also.
The gsg drums for the 10/22 run about $100-$120 plus tax. I wonder if the weight is an issue.
Anyway looking for a 15-22 pistol upper!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks guys

But these don't exist for the 15-22. As for double stacks, there was a forum member a couple of years ago that was developing one and several of us were going to beta test it, but it never came to pass and he dropped off the face of the forum. I also think the media-manufactured hysteria about "large capacity" magazines and the resultant legislation in several states helped to kill the project.

I would like S&W to make more of the 10 round mags just for my sake. I like the bigger mags but want a few 10 rounders also. Have found none affordably priced to date.

I bought mine here: 44MAG.com - Smith & Wesson - S&W .22lr 10rd Short M&P15-22 Magazine Smith and Wesson Price seems to vary, shipping is reasonable.
