M&P 15-22 Firing Pin Spring?
Guys I am looking for some help. I am using the Timney trigger with a Slide Fire stock. I'm getting light primer strikes with this set up. Can anyone point me towards the correct replacement spring to make this work. Where to get it, and maybe a part number?

1, there's no lighter replacement spring for the firing pin. 2, the strength of the firing pin spring has nothing to do with your problem.
That's a hammer spring problem.

I had a Timney, and had all sorts of failures... not just light strikes. Replaced it with a CMC, and all problems went away. From my experience and from what I've read from others here, the Timney just doesn't always work well in the 15-22. Seems to work fine when folks put it in their AR, but there are issues when put in the 15-22.
The CMC hammer hits the firing pin HARD. Not so with the Timney. My understanding is the Slide Fire folks sell & recommend the CMC.

Try using your original S&W Hammer Spring to see if this helps out. If you do not have the original you can use any mil-spec hammer spring.
Let us know how this works out for you.

I thought the Timney was a modular drop in action group and the springs are not replaceable.

Timney and similar low pull weight triggers get their low pull weight from changed geometry, polished surfaces, and lower spring weights. Rimfire rounds are more sensitive to lower hammer spring weights than centerfire cartridges, and light hits can result. Not having a Timney trigger, I do not know if it is possible to change or add a spring to get more hammer hit pressure. But if the hammer spring pressure can be increased, it will also increase the trigger pull weight. But an extra pound or so of trigger pull pressure is better than having light hits.
Check with Timney and see if they have a spring that will increase hammer hit.

Wow
Wow Keith it look like Christmas has come early for you!
Many thanks for the info, when you get it installed can you let us know what you think of the Flat trigger compared to the curved.
From looking at the pictures of both it looks like the flat blade sits much further forward than the curved blade.
Cheers

Hi SC - I've got the flat blade CMC (they have them in stock at Dauntseys for £199).
[IMG] [/IMG]
It's a really crisp 3.5lb short pull (and hard hammer hit) - dead easy to fit although you'll need to remove the safety and comes with replacement anti walk pins & screws.
I really like it and recommend - it's all in one so nothing goes flying!
I found when shooting with the std trigger that I would occasionally 'twist' the rifle slightly when pulling the trigger. This was only fractional but was enough to annoy me. Know I've teamed it up with the fatter LaRue grip I don't get this issue at all.
Get yerself one - you won't be disappointed

Many thanks Hereford for the heads up! It certainly looks the part i think i will have to take the plunge, i am getting fed up with the stock trigger, i want to get the Ambi safety as well.
I dont want to hijack another thread Hereford so i will put up the results of my Ammo findings in another thread regarding RWS semi auto & CCI AR Tactical. Thanks again. Cheers

Hi SC
If I'm not mistaken Suffolk Rifle co have recently got a load of these triggers in. Not sure of price tag but maybe the website will shed some light for you. Just had a look, £199 it's the curved trigger looking at the advert and 3.5lb pull.
