I have a SlideFire stock. I got the kit for the 15-22, but I have used the stock on my AR (with its factory trigger) as well. I had been considering getting a second 15-22 kit, using the trigger on my AR, and selling off the stock.
The major disadvantage of the older design is that it is just not well suited for conventional usage. I don't find the stock to be comfortable with regards to the length of pull, the pistol grip is a bit ungainly, and the finger rest gets in the way. I remove the stock most of the time and use conventional furniture, only installing the SlideFire when I am specifically going to use the rapid fire functionality.
If the new stock is comfortable I would likely leave it on all of the time, only removing the finger rest for conventional fire. If they were to make the finger rest extension lock in and out with just the press of a button that would make the new stock even more desirable. I think they really have something here!
I am going to wait a little while since I think the new design will sell like hotcakes and the price will probably be high until the initial demand is satisfied.
If the current kit price gets even lower I still might get it since I really like the trigger and for just a few bucks more I get a stock that I could probably make a little money on, but for the next few weeks I will just sit tight and save my money to see what they will do.
