Default Advice on Scope Mount

I have a 15-22 with magpul MBUS and looking for mounts that will allow me to mount a Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn Multi-X Reticle Riflescope, 3-9x50. I've tried a few but the front of the scope hits the front MBUS and I need something higher.

The front of the scope hits the front MBUS? Is your front sight post not at the end of your rail? if so then how long is the scope? I can't see the problem, can you not just remove the MBUS or move it towards the end of the rail....maybe a pic would clear up my confusion.

With a 50mm objective lens on that scope though you are going to need a riser or some extra high mounts, i had a 44m objective lens on mine before and i had it on a 15mm riser block and high scope mounts and that just cleared.

The scope is 16" long, which is about as long as the rail!

Just taking a WAG at this:

This http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/...-2-inch-offset says that it puts the center of the riflescope 1.59" above the base. A 50mm objective means a full INCH of riflescope (25mm) is below that, and .59" is REALLY CLOSE to the height of the MBUS.

That might be the best you're going to do. Better option, like GhostMutt said, is to remove the MBUS in the first place.

Wow 16 inches.....{insert funny joke here}

Personally i would just remove the MBUS and put them on a 45 angle mount if you have the space/clearance with that behemoth of a scope and really need the irons. I would love to see pics of that when you got it sorted

Just found this.....it might help....or not.

I had a similar issue with my 3-9x40 scope not clearing the mbus sights and ended up adding a 1/2" riser. With the riser the UTG medium height rings had plenty clearance and I think the high height rings would clear a 50. I wanted to keep the mbus sights on so I could remove the scope and still practice cqb.

In that case i would suggest angle mounting the mbus, so you don't have to bother removing the scope for CQB drill, that way you get irons and scope on the same gun, without the need for removing anything.

Ditto as the angled mounts were designed for use in 3-gun competition so they had a close range setup separate from their optics setup (Tactical Optics division does not allow a second scope like the Open division guys who mount a red dot at 45 degrees for close range work). So Barry Dueck designed a set of offset sights for other shooters in multigun competition and they sold so well it because an industry. Now everyone makes cheap clones of his (Duecks cost $200) for around $50. I think the patent may have run out. I have a set of those and they are definitely better made and are more accurate than the clones but at this date not $150 better. And definitely not on a .22.
