Received 15-22 Ambi Cdharing Handle
Just received the 15-22 Ambi Charging handle from Ground Zero Precision. Dropped it in and made several cocking tests on my S&W M&P PC 15-22. No initial issues at this time. Will range test on Monday. Will post results.

Is the charging handle you received the new one made by next level armament?

Are you sure? The only 15-22 charging handle I saw at Ground Zero is the Next Level Armament NLX Scythe

I have a pair and they both drag. Next Level Armament has been extremely cooperative and are working on the issue. They have updated the drawings and the size of the cut underneath and are almost ready for testing.

Excellent!!
Mine is doing the same thing and only when it get real dirty. Put the OEM or Tacticool handle in and issues go away. You can see on mine where the metal has worn away from scraping.
Hopefully the widen channel will help.

Sorry you are correct, I thought Ground Zero was the manufacturer. Next Level is the unit I have and am very happy with it.

So for those of us that have already spent about 60 bucks on one of these what are they going to do? Mine had no packaging or anything else included with the shipment. Not that any instructions were required. Apparently the 5.56 version tears up your lower. Was going to get one of those until I read that.

The 5.56 version does not fit the 15-22. It's too long and the latch is different.

Those ambi charging handles are the nicest ones for the 15-22 available.
(From your favorite online retailer)
The only AR-15 thing compatible with the 15-22 upper is whatever mounts on the picatinny rail.
You need an adapter for the hand guard.
The 15-22 A-2 front sight slips right on.

I was looking at the 5.56 version for my ar15. I should have made that clear. I already have the 15-22 version from a certain online retailer

So what's the final verdict on the Next Level Scythe Charging Handle? Pass or buy?

Why? Bought mine from tacticool and it doesn't work very good. Was not made by you as far as I can tell that's why I didn't mention where it came from in my original post. It's nice but they forgot to put in the bevel above the bolt that the factory one has. If that was there and the bolt channel were slightly shorter it would have been a homerun. I know rack the bolt and let it go, but some of us live in the country and don't just shoot at a range so when there is a nearby pest they hear that. Guess that's why I have a savage .17 hmr. At least that ones accurate out of the box

Pull the bolt back and engage the bolt hold open. Then try to slide the charging handle in and out. Mine will barely move without force. Maybe my upper is out of spec, but it works fine with the stock charging handle. I can use a die grinder and make it work but that shouldn't be necessary on a $60 add on part. Should be perfection for what it cost

Can tacticool22 comment on whether or not the tolerances of the NLS charging handle have been modified to allow it to slide freely when the bolt is held open?
I'm weary to install any metal components into a polymer receiver that aren't machines perfectly.

The latest ones (3rd generation) have larger pins for even easier actuation and the tolerances have been opened up to accommodate variances in molding the uppers.

Well after getting some help from customer service at Ground Zero precision on the 15-22 charging handle issues, they sent me a new one... SAME THING!!! STICKS!!! Then they sent me another ( that's 3 of them now) Does not work! Quality control in their engineering Dept. need to go back to the blue prints with this design.
"This handle does not work in the New M&P 15-22 sport!" You have been warned.

You keep ranting that "they do not work".
Are you able to expand on this and state what actually "doesn't work" with the design?

Reviving a dead thread to ask if the issues have been worked out on the Next Level Armament charging handle? I was about to pull the trigger on one of these.

I have one of the these from next level, it worked well for a few rounds then got stiff the more I fired, due to the tolerances when machined, which was a little disappointing when you consider the cost of having it shipped to the UK.
I dropped Jody/Dave an email with a pic and sure enough a couple weeks later another new handle arrived FOC this time with the Tacticool T on it, slightly different tolerances both underneath AND on the side lips.
Absolutely Perfect.........
Brilliant customer services and after care.
I will point out that I have tried the Plinker, the DoomsDay and the Tacticool22 original Tbar, which was the best and most reliable of all the swap outs I tried, but you know how it is, just have to try new things....
I love it, not a lefty but like the look and feel, if you gonna do it then just do it....

I've got one and when the bolt is open and I hit the release button on the side to close the bolt but the charging handle never goes all the way back in. Now if the bolt is closed and I rack it all the way back and let it go it works fine 100% of the time. Anyway to trade this out for the new tolerances one if that's suppose to fix the problem?

Not the direct replacement in aluminum. But we should in a few months.
We still have the ambi.

Your website only shows the 5.56 & 7.62 ambi charging handles.

I got the tacticool22 ambi and it works perfectly. I like the fact that the handles are larger. Fired 100 rounds of Winchester super X and every round fired perfectly.

Any 15-22 parts are viewed as AW parts to them.
It's absolutely ridiculous.

Instead of starting a new thread I will continue on here haha. Yeah I know it’s been almost 5 years. But my CH worked out just fine after milling out a little bit. Sure it isn’t as pretty as intended. What I want is another one for my new pistol

I just put a next level armament scythe on mine. Works perfectly. So perhaps they refined their design in the last 5 years.
It’s also about the only one available here in the U.K.
