Can you have both if you have a threaded barrel?
Ive seen shouds by TC22 that are both thread on and held on by screw.
Could I have a suppressor and still fit a shroud?
Would like the looks of a one size barrel.

my one 15-22 is a dedicated host for an AAC can and i didn't like the looks of the pencil barrel going to a bigger diameter can. so my rifle is krylon camo tan, so i found a piece of PVC pipe that matched the outer diameter of the can (i took the handguard end piece off years ago to make it free float) and i painted it the same color tan. then i ran it over the can and down as far as it would go under the handguards, then cut it flush and filed the end edges down nice and rounded. Instant shrouded barrel with the can underneath! won't melt, pulls off when you want it to and goes back in just as easy. [IMG][/IMG]

So the pvs doesnt melt even with high rate of fire.
Not sure what it is you are wanting to achieve with this, you have
made your rifle ultra light with the chopped barrel and light weight materials which you have posted on previous dates.
You are in Canada, which you had said that suppressors are not legal there, even the Maglite ones
So why would you want to add weight and length to the overall rifle with a shroud that "could" cover a sound suppressor that you "don't have ".

On a 16in barrel is hard to even get the can to warm up.
On a short 4in barrel like my Ruger Mark III the can will get hot to the touch but no where near any temps to melt plastic. But of course if you had a short barrel 15-22 the can should slide into the handguard anyway so you wouldn't see the barrel.
We can have fake suppressors. I really like my 10" barrel but it looks weird if I put a fake can on it.
Just looking at options.
A pvc pipe would weigh little just as the fake can.
This is what was left of a 15-22 receiver and handguard after using a Slidefire. Beware.
Can't get a slide fire for the love of money this side the pond, so wouldn't be a problem I'm ever likely to encounter. :-(
Though I am a little surprised that someone in US could get hold of enough .22 ammo to shoot so much, that the rifle gets hot enough to turn itself to scrap. That said the price you guys can get them for, wouldn't matter if you could melt it. Just buy another....

there in Canada with an illegal length barrel on your
15-22........Suffolk Rifle here in England,where you bought the
10" barrel do not make barrels for the S&W 15-22,all they do
is shorten a standard 16" barrel and recrown it.This is done
on either an exchange for your original 16" barrel,or you can
buy a new barrel outright from them that Suffolk Rifle have
brought into england as a standard 16"one

Our gun laws are grey at best. We can have any length barrel as long as the total length is 26" Anything less than that is reclassified as a pistol. IE charger 10/22.
We can not cut our own barrels either. However if the barrel is made/cut by a gunsmith. Its ok.
Check out Dlask arms.
They have 8" 10/22 barrels.
