Default How Did I Do? - Brand New Shooter

So I shot my M&P 15-22 for the first time. Btw, this is only my second time shooting a gun ever. I bought a cheap-o red dot and read up on how to zero it. Check out my target below. Did I shoot decent? Terrible? Should I have not even posted this? lol.

Variables:
Stock 15-22 A1 Comp (Non PC model)
Federal auto match bulk ammo
UTG 4 MOE red dot
25 yards off a front bench rest
No magnification (obviously)

Well, I'm no range master but that looks pretty darn good to me. I know I'd be proud. Congratulations.

Great for second time.
I see flyers. Did to try for groups?
Cheap thing to do at ranges, buy a sticker sheet at walmart. The round stickers in office supplies not kids stickers.
Anyway flip the paper around and put as many stickers as you like.
Try 5 round groups at each sticker.
Youd be supprized at the difference.
Also take your time. Enjoy shooting. You dont need to see how quickly you can unload the mag everytime. However once in a while is a blast!
Just my 2 cents worth

I made 3-shot groupings over and over until I got the red dot sighted in as close as I could on the bullseye. Probably still needs a little adjustment. After I felt I was pretty "on" I shot a bunch of rounds cause this thing is just such a blast to shoot.

I guess my big question is. Since this is a 12" target and I'm shooting a 4 MOA red dot. Ideally should all my shots be inside of the orange bullseye @ 25 yards?

4 MOA = 4 inches @ 100 Yards, so 4 MOA @ 25 yards would be 1 inch correct? Not sure I'm doing the math right.

Your math regarding MOA is correct. The gun is mostly a 3 MOA rifle, so yes, at 25 yards all shots should be within 1 inch. However, then you have to add in any issues with the optic and more importantly the shooter. So your goal is to keep shooting and try to get where you can match the accuracy of the gun. Once you do that, try a 1 MOA rifle and try to do the same.

Good thing shooting ain't like exercising. I never tire of shooting but give up on exercise after a minute or two.

Looks good to me. Now, don't forget to clean it. Those little 22's can really dirty one up.

Talking

I love my S&W M&P 15-22 and I really enjoy shooting it at the range that I belong too. That said I never considered it minute of angle rifle at 100 yards and I considered it being a hoot to shoot and maybe a 2 minute of angle rifle.

Others experience my vary but that's my experience.
