Default Lazer engraving

I have the 22 sport and I've built it to be a "fantasy" build as my wife calls it. But I'm thinking of having the bolt engraved with some type of design. Since the bolt rides on the rails I didn't think it would hurt the performance of the gun. Thoughts anyone?

Should be no issue having the bolt engraved. I buffed my first bolt so that it really shined.

I'm sure you meant bolt.... My advice is don't. Run you fingers over some laser engraving, it feels rough and abrasive. If you do get it engraved, smooth and polish it down so it doesn't abrade and wear the bolt rails.
I don't remember seeing any rifles with laser engraved bolt's. I have seen and even own a custom bolt action with an engine turned bolt but that's a whole different thing.

The 'big boy' (AR-15) bolts, and others, get this done all the time.

Not sure why you think it would be a problem as long as it doesn't interfere with the rails..

Examples engravings on non 15-22 bolts:

Oh great another thing to consider now, that had never crossed my mind, thankfully i would never be able to decide what i would want engraved, so i doubt i'll lose sleep over it.

Still trying to decide what i want on my Anschutz stock, my wife is waiting with her engraving tools ready.

Can't wait to see the finished product, something original and a first on the 15-22 i would think.

You could always get the word, "Pew" engraved on the bolt.

That way, when you shoot, the gun would say, "Pew, pew, pew..."

I have a couple of etched external parts on mine, nothing yet internal, but I must say, what a good idea to make it that little bit more personal to yourself.

Love the Pew Pew Pew idea. Just made me laugh out loud.
