Default M&P 15-22P

Never knew this existed until I saw one up for sale 2 weeks ago. From the little I could find, I made an offer and think I got a very good deal. I assume this is just rifle parts meaning the barrel, nut, etc are the same and equally a pain to remove or replace? The hand guard just doesn't fit the profile to me so I'd like to replace it. Wasn't sure what my options were though.

You should check out the tacticool .22 website. There is some neat stuff there including the barrel nut adapter and tools that make changes way easier. Support the innovators out there and let's see what they come up with next.

Yep, it's the same except the short barrel, short hand guard, and the buffer tube is cut off and has a sling adapter installed.

If you're planning on changing the handguard anyway, I'd suggest cutting the factory handguard back as far as possible so you can still get the barrel in a vice and use a shortened barrel wrench.

I am running a 7" keymod hand guard on mine with a KAK pig for a muzzle device. The keymod pins on the angled grip scratch the fake pig, but I'm okay with that.

That is an older picture with the Sig arm brace. Now I am running a Shockwave Blade arm brace.

Thanks. I've refrained from taking my 15-22 rifle apart due to the issues and special tools I've read about. I also plan on getting a new sport as the price and look is too tempting. With those and the new pistol, buying the tools doesn't seem out of range. I've been to tacticool22 and have already purchased some items from him in the past. I'd like to get a smooth mlok hand guard to fit the look, but haven't seen one yet. I've got some short double stack magazines that suck, but I haven't taken the time to see if they can be fixed. If they can't, I'll look to purchase a couple S&W 10 mags. With the replaced hand guard and shorter mags, I think this gun will look sharp.

With these, it's all about cost. These have been extremely cost effective plinkers. Even if I purchase a new sport, I'll have less than $1000 into all 3 guns, so I don't want to spend more on a hand guard than I spent on any 1 of the guns.

Man, love those. I've been looking for a scorpion too, but limited availability has pushed the prices higher than what I'm willing to pay.

Will the pistol take a normal buffer tube? I thought I read a bt couldn't be added. Granted, most of the info I could find was 4 years or older.

I was looking at 6" and 7" hand guards, but was unsure of the look. Nice to see those will work as it will expand my options. I thought about adding one with a barrel shroud to extend the length a bit to make it look right, but the more pieces I add, the more cost I add.

Adding a buffer tube to the 15-22P would take a custom adapter.

I used a chinese airsoft knock-off of the Law Tactical folding stock adapter. I used the 15-22P sling adapter and a slightly longer screw.

It doesn't fit the shape perfectly, but it works.

A guy had a youtube video that shows another type of adapter and says he has them for sale, but they haven't been for sale for a long time.

I have had my Scorpion for a month and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I have upgraded the trigger, springs, charging handle...... and really want to take it out.

My 15-22p brace doesn't fold. The adapter was turned down from a length of 1" steel rod.

I saw that in an older post. I like the looks of yours better, but have no way to recreate the adaptor. Telero had to file a part of the base which I'd rather not do, but may if a better solution doesn't come up.
