new 15-22 owner-are new & improved golden bullets (bucket) ok to use?
Just got my 15-22 last week. Have put 150 rds of aguila super extra and 200 rds of norma tac 22 through it. Had 2 FTE with the norma tac 22. Was at academy yesterday and picked up a Remington bucket of golden bullets for $79.99. I know smith recommends not using these but I have read that the new ones are improved. Is this true or did I waste my money? Thanks for any feedback.

Just ordered a 15-22 MOE
Model M&P15-22 MOE Rifle - at Quantico Tactical
I've shot the new batch of Rem Golden Bullets that I bought in 100 packs and shot 200 of them in my SR22 pistol without a malfunction.

I just got my 15-22 and tried Federal match 40gr first and had nothing but problems, stovepipes ever 3 or so rounds!
I have since switched to Remington golden bullets (high velocity hollow point) since my LGS only carries that and the Federal. So far they have run much better, only getting stovepipes every few hundred rounds. I'm on my second 525 pack and I recommend them.

Ok thanks. Tomorrow Im gonna try the golden bullets, federal automatch and maybe some cci standard velocity. I guess I will try to run a clip of each one to see how they do. I was surprised that I got 2 FTE's with the norma tac 22 ammo. Its supposed to be good ammo.

My son and I have shot three buckets of them through our 15-22s. Very few problems. There is an occasional failure to fire or failure to eject with them. They aren't as good as CCI, but a darn sight better than Winchester or American Eagle.

[QUOTE=Chuck Finley;138996835]I just got my 15-22 and tried Federal match 40gr first and had nothing but problems, stovepipes ever 3 or so rounds!
I had the same issue. Mine would only run on CCI mini mags. Adjusted the ejector slightly out toward the ejection port. Now it runs perfect on Auto match, golden bullets, american eagle and Win M-22. 300 rounds now without any malfunctions. Before the adjustment I would have 3 or 4 FTEs in an 80 round steel match with mini mags.

I've run thousands of Goldens thru my 15-22 with just a few of rounds that needed to be re-tried.
I had easily 100x the problems with any variation of the Winchester stuff.
I prefer the CCI and Maroon box of Federal bulk but havem't seen that for a couple of years now and I'm only 12 miles from the factory where they are made....

Great info guys. I will try them when I get off work. Hopefully they will be good enough for some inexpensive plinking with my son. As cheap as they are I won't get to tore up if I get a failure once in a while. The original golden bullets must have had a bad reputation since ive read that some folks won't use them still.

Just got a bucket of 22 Golden Bullets, lot #Y20TF1233, through Cabelas.
The first 200+ round have had several jams, and at least 7-8 rounds that needed re-firing. Same old "Less Than Golden Bullets" if you ask me.
Only bought them because I had heard they were improved.

FWIW and nothing more. A fellow shooter recommended the golden ones to me while we were blasting away at the range. To date I have put 1050 of them through my Buckmark Contour without one FTF or FTE. Not even close to what I expected, but there it is. I also use Federal Auto Match and CCI SV with good results.

I've shot 4,000+ of the 40 gr RNs recently and have about 1,000 left. They do seem to have fixed the failure to fire. Seems they're now actually putting primer compound in them but the velocities are very inconsistent. All too often you're wondering if the last rd actually exited the barrel. They're on my "I'm not buying any more of these" list.

Same here but Federal 525 bulk pack works best for me even in my M16A1 with Ceiner 22 full auto adapter.

I had bad luck with my testing. Ran a complete clip of each of these:
cci mini mag=No fte
Browning bulk=no fte
Cci blazer=1 fte
Federal champion=1 fte
Winchester super x=1 fte
cci standard velocity=2 fte
Norma tac 22=2fte
Federal automatch=bunch of fte
Golden bullet hollow point=bunch of fte
Idk what's going on. I didn't clean it before shooting it maybe I should clean it. The lgs that I bought it from said to clean it and that the reason it wasn't fte with cci mini mags and the auguila super extra that I used first is cause they are loaded hot enough to eject the casing. He said to run more of the premium ammo and it should loosen upthen I should be able to run cheap ammo. Does this all sound right? Point me in the right direction. Thanks

Actually worse ammo in compare to any other, even packed well golden bullets. I believe 22lr need some good packaging. It is also dirty in hands.

After testing 6 brands, the Remington Golden Bullet round nose is the only bullet that works well with my finicky model 41. Understand that the 100 pack is 40 grains, but the larger size packs are less grains. My gun seems to need the extra "kick" for some reason.

What do yall think is the issue with it? Ive read about tweaking the ejector rod but if that was the issue it would do it with all ammo.

They are all feeding into chamber and going bang but one gets hung up every now and then when ejecting.
