Default Finally got a 15-22 sport. Few questions...

I have been looking at my local Cabelas for the past few months for a M&P 15-22. They have always been out of them and I cant seem them anywhere locally. On Saturday I was working and happened to check their website and it showed that they had them in stock. Excited I called my wife at 830 and she was standing at the door of Cabelas when they opened at 9. She was in and out in 30 minutes with my 15-22! She said they had a shelf full of Winchester 333 that were 19.99 a box. She only bought 4 boxes and I went through a whole box yesterday.

This gun feels so good and I swear it may be more accurate than my Ruger 10-22. Either way I own and love both guns. This was one of my best gun purchases by far!. I want to buy either a scope or a red dot sight for it. What kind of mount do I need to buy for a red dot? Links would be great as Im not to familiar with sights and such. Also looking at a vertical grip with the bi pod that comes out of the bottom. Does anyone have a link to that? I was looking at the Simmons Whitetail 6.5-20 scope. I know its overkill but I really like it. What mount would I need for that? Thanks for all the help!

For a red dot, a low or medium height riser is sufficient (depending on YOUR preferences/check weld/etc):

Of course, you CAN mount the red dot directly to the top rail, no mount required.

I'd steer you away from a vertical grip with built-in bipod; had one and didn't like it. Eventually ended up with an Angled foregrip and a separate, detachable bipod. But, if you want a vertical grip with bipod:

For a riflescope, you will need a rifle scope mount. The one you specified has a 1" tube diameter, but since it's objective lens size is 50, you will either need a rifle scope mount plus a riser, or a set of extra tall 1" rifle scope mounts. You would likely need a low riser for this rifle scope mount:

What's your price range? Are you looking for a tube design or more open (holographic) style? Do you want to change reticles? How much 'ghosting' can you tolerate (more of an issue in low-light situations)?

'Decent' starting points:

If you prefer the more open style, you CAN get away with an inexpensive NCStar optic, but it may not hold zero on stronger recoil guns. I picked up this SightMark for my wife's 9mm carbine, and it holds zero and works well:
