Default Thoughts on SBRing a Gen 1 or Gen 2 15-22?

So I'm planning to SBR one of my 15-22 lowers but can't decide if I should do the original gen 1 or the new gen 2 sport. Hard to see if any changes were made between the two but I do see that the gen 1 has a more clean finish on the polymer vs the gen 2 which is rougher.

Anyone know if the gen 2 has any additional, positive changes that make it worth SBRing over the gen 1? I know uppers are interchangeable and can't really see the difference.

The Gen1 and Gen 2 lowers are the same, S&W did not make any changes. Basically the only difference is the hand guard, the barrel extension is a little different and the recoil spring guide doesn't have the tiny hole towards the skinny end.

Imo a gen one is better. The handguard on the gen 1s are easy to cut down to length or swap. The gen 2s have a nice handguard. Id hate to see it cut or swapped.
