Default Ambi mag release option

I bought a Norgon ambi catch about 4 months ago ($75), and it works great. I was browsing Ebay the other day and found what looks to be a knock off for $33, so I thought I would give it a try.

It's almost imperceptible to distinguish the Norgon from the Ebay one. A couple of things I found is that the Norgon one has the Patent number on it, the metal work is a little smoother, and the finish is just a tad darker. I tried the Ebay one and it worked just as good as Norgon's. Personally I think Norgon's price of $75-$90 is a bit steep for what you get. $33 seems a lot more reasonable.

Oh, and it's not my listing, nor do I know the seller on Ebay

The one on top is the Norgon

I had a Norgon for a while and I think you're exactly right: nice, but not worth more than $50.

This could be a nice alternative.

As long as you aren't concerned with someone knocking off the patent. As a business owner, that would bother me.

Someone on another site checked the patent # and said it was filed in 1995. So it'spossible the patent has expired

I'd want to know first.

Yep, filed June 19, 1995, issued May 28, 1996. So, whether you take the file or issue date, 20 years is over.

US5519954 A is the patent number.

Patent US5519954 - Ambidextrous magazine release mechanism for firearms - Google Patents

read all about it.
