Default Kinetitech shroud question

Got a 15-22 sport about six weeks ago. I've made some mostly cosmetic modifications to it and the crown barrel shroud by kinetitech was one of them. The pictures appear that the shroud recesses slightly into the front of the rail. But mine didn't go that far down onto the barrel and there's a gap between the rail and the shroud. Curious if anyone else has a sport and their shroud, is that normal?

Which shroud did you buy? Its possible that the picture on their website shows a free floating handguard which is longer that the OEM one that comes with the sport so it would extend past the end of the shroud.

The 6 inch shroud goes just inside the hand guard

I bought the crown shroud and it didn't have a length option on it. I called KinetiTech and they had me mail the short tube back and they're sending me the longer one.
