Looks like S&W sends the rejects overseas, knowing getting replacement parts and shipping it back is a PITA.

Scratch on the bolt face is cosmetic. Tabs on the ends of the rails is normal. The pin on the charging handle, however, looks like someone removed it and then try to install it again (but *****'d it). Explains the gouge in the upper receiver. I'd shoot it and replace the charging handle with an aftermarket one.

The scratch may only be cosmetic, but something has happened to cause that scratch, would you accept maybe a new car with a scratch across the hood,i dont think so. As for the rail ends, my other 15-22 does not have rough ends like these. The charging handle was not going to be used as with my other 15-22 i do have a MST handle to use........The gouge, well to me it looks like that needs a new upper and the rifle was returned to the importers to replace........

Major the rifle was sent down to Birmingham proof house to be reproofed as the barrel had been shortened, there they fire it.

Keith,

I am now seriously considering treating my 15-22 to a breast reduction i mean barrel reduction for my B'day in November. Can you tell me who you used and how much it all cost, including RFD transfers and the turnaround time...without the hiccups yours has had.

Cheers
Ben

The ends on my rails are rough as well. Doesn't affect function though. Us Brits probably expect a nicely finished one because of the high price we have to pay for these guns.but the high price we have to pay is not smith and Wessons fault. I love my m+p15 but I think they are cheaply made guns.

The bolt face looks like the CNC cutter dragged between operations.

Nothing worse than finding your new pride and joy not fit for purpose, especially considering how much they cost over here!
Are Shield the official importers for mainland UK?
Glad to see that have sorted it for you though

Got it from Shield in England who sent it over to my RFD in Ireland, I'm out of the country at the moment but will get some photos up when I'm back. But I can tell you my bolt is the same as yours trebor127 Only my bolt has a not so lovely deep scratch on the side. Hopefully Shield are good to their word and will send me the new bolt. As I said to them I like to look after my firearms and if I damage it my fault, Especially the price for a M&P over here.
