Thumbs up Went to the range today...

So, over the last two days, I've installed all of the internal mods to my 15-22:
Volquartsen Extractor
ALG Combat Trigger
JP Yellow Trigger spring
JoeBob's grip screw trigger adjuster

My son and I went to the range this afternoon, and first round, we ran through 3 mags, each loaded with different ammo:
CCI Mini Mag
Federal AutoMatch
Aguila SuperExtra

ZERO FTEs! The ejector and extractor are working Perfectly since I adjusted the ejector and added the volquarsten extractor - it actually ejected one with so much velocity that it bounced off of the side of the stall and went down the back of my shirt!
Unfortunately, had a pretty high number (2 - 3 per mag) of light strikes.
Swapped the purple hammer spring from the ALG trigger kit for the JP Yellow hammer spring, and fired about 15 more rounds - more light strikes.
Ended up swapping in the milspec hammer spring that came in the ALG kit, and over the course of the next 75 rounds, had ZERO failures - no FTEs, no FTFs, no light strikes. Just plain ole steel plinking fun!

The gun feels AMAZING now. The trigger is great, no play, and resets stupid fast. I can't wait for our steel match next weekend

Thank you for sharing your experience huafist.

Clarification sir,

For the springs, all you did was use the original ALG hammer spring and replace the trigger spring and disconnector spring with a JP yellow speing, right?

Also, what is the differebce between the orginal m&p 15-22 hammer spring vs the ALG hammer spring? Much stronger than the other?

Thanks and cheers,

Earl

Correct - the trigger and disconnector springs are the springs from the JP kit. I suspect there's little difference between the milspec spring in the ALG kit and the OEM spring (OEM trigger pull is ~7lbs, ALG says 6lbs with their trigger/springs). I used it because I didn't have to take it off of the hammer to install.
If I had to guess, my trigger pull is likely between 4 and 4.5lbs. I'd need a strain gauge to tell for sure.

After reading the discussions here, I was also planning to do the same since lighter hammer spring causes light strike fire.

One more option is to lighten(cut) the firing pin spring which for me is risky unless i find a small enough spring to fit in the firing pin as a replacement to the original. Thou there are successful ones who have tried to do it in this forum. Maybe ill do it as a last resort yo really lighten trigger pull.

I was also expecting it to be around 4lbs with the combination of ALG hammer spring and JP trigger/ disconnector srping.

I just cant wait to receive my 15-22. It takes months of waiting for us here.

Happy shooting!

I have a 3lb timney trigger. Works great now I changed fire pin springs.
Iirc it was a hillman spring. Cost was under a buck.
Took away all issue of light strikes.

I have the Hiperfire 24C FCG. Needs nothing doing to it....2lb trigger pull, right out of the packaging. The only problems i have are ammo related. Try the modifications, if you cannot get any of it to work...then drop in a new trigger group

I considered bobbing the hammer to eliminate the light strikes, but honestly, the trigger feels great to me the way it is. I don't think it's worth the effort at this point for 1/2lb reduction in pull weight
haha.

Why not just order the next heavier set of springs(red)?

So, Steel Challenge match was today. My son and I both shot the 15-22 as 2nd gun, and neither of us had a single FTE, FTF, or stovepipe the entire day! After I got my feet under me with the gun, I was shooting in the low 2 second range with it.
I knew this rifle was going to be fun, but HOLY **** I didn't realize how much! We both had a blast shooting it. I may buy another one just for him to shoot, since he doesn't care much for the way I have my red dot set up.
