Default 15-22 specific anti-walk/rotation pins - length

Hello all,

Could someone do me a favour please, I'm looking for a micrometer length reading of a 15-22 SPECIFIC anti-walk pin.

I've been getting by with the ones that came with my CMC trigger however it was always my intention to get the proper length pins. Some arrived today that were touted as "for the 15-22" and they are a fraction longer than the CMC ones but the difference is minuscule!

CMC - 22.37mm
New pins - 22.64mm

So not even 0.5mm difference! Would appreciate finding out what the 15-22 specific pin measurement actually is!

Thanks

We discussed this in another thread a while back. Not about anti rotation pins but it may help.

The OE 15-22 (and std AR-15) pins are .895". The Geissele Colt 901 pins I have measure .995". The 15-22 lower is ~.990" wide at the pin holes.

That means the 901 pins will "stick out" ~.003" on each side. The original pins sit ~.050" recessed per side.

To put .003" in perspective, an average human hair is ~.004" thick.

1" = 25.4mm

.995" in civilised is 25.27mm which would be my guess what 15-22 would be as the standard AR ones look about 1mmtoo short on either side....

Would still appreciate an actual measurement of one though

Well ive got one more round of my rapid fire comps to do, then i clean my FCG, meaning the pins will have to come out, if you can wait a week i can give you the actual. mm of the kns hammer and trigger pins.
Question though...why don't you just get the KNS pins or are you thinking of creating a product of your own?

Hi Bstuff

KNS Anti rotate / walk pins for 15-22 specific is 1.132inch or 28.75mm for the front pin and .989inch or 25.12mm for the rear one.

Front is the one with the extra little bit to engage the clasp, rear is the one where the screw goes in.

Hope that useful, just had to dig out my spare set to measure..

Show me where they can be bought in the U.K. Or sent from another country to the U.K. and I'll buy them!

Shame I'm putting my "spare" set in another smith...

Shame you got ripped man, if I wasn't gonna use my spare stuff on another rig I'd sell my " SPARE" Odin works XMR, KNS pins, NDZ SBR and laser etched mag catch.

The 15-22 specific anti walk pins from KNS are top notch.

Installed them on a timmney replacement trigger group and haven't looked back once; couldn't be happier.

I put a very light dab of blue loctite on both retaining screws just to ensure they don't come loose as well.

I'm going to install an upgrade trigger on my M&P 15-22, but I need to know some further information regarding the pins

Are the Colt 901 hammer and trigger pins interchangeable? In other words are the 2 pins needed identical?

Brownells sells them one (1) at a time at a cost of $5.99 each.

The description on their website refers to them as 901 HAMMER & TRIGGER PIN Colt.

If in fact they're interchangeable, this is the best price I've seen for these pins X 2 is only a total of $11.98.

But, I'm not absolutely certain if the pins are interchangeable, anyone know?

Thanks!

tomcatt51,

...and the beat goes on.

What do I mean?

Looking at what Brownells touts as Colt 901 hammer and trigger pins have 2 grooves in the pins, yet the Colt 901 hammer and trigger pins sold at Geiselle have 3 grooves.

What....? I'm confused.

Why the difference and are the Geiselles's superior or ...?

How can they both be described as Colt 901 hammer and trigger pins?

Thanks!

AR15 trigger pins can have 2 or 3 grooves. All the actual AR15 trigger pins I have "laying around" have 2 grooves. My 15-22s had 3 groove pins as OE.
The third groove isn't necessary on the usual AR15 trigger. The three groove pins seem to exist for trigger groups that don't use a hammer with a J spring to locate the hammer. They use a different arrangement with a spring leg on each side of the hammer. This applies to AR15s and Colt 901s.

I have Geissele pins because I got them before I found that Brownells carried 901 pins, and I got a couple sets of pins during one of their holiday sales. IIRC the Geissele pins are a slightly larger diameter for a better fit and have a better coating.

For MOST of the usual AR15 trigger groups 2 groove pins are fine.

tomcatt51,

Thank you sir for your response.

If you can bear another question..?

Do you have a preference for the Geissele 3 groove, bigger pins or will the Brownells version work just as well in my 15-22.

Thanks again!!

I haven't used the Brownells 901 pins. I didn't know Brownells carried the 901 pins 'til later. I'm using Geissele triggers with Geissele pins in my 15-22s.
One SD-3G and one SD-C both with Geissele 901 pins. Geissele has a variety of triggers plus you can then play "mix and match" with their trigger springs which are available under "Trigger Maintenance Kits". Their trigger groups use extra power hammer springs which is a plus for reliability with our rimfires.

If this sounds like I like Geissele triggers I do. There's a Geissele Hi-Speed National Match trigger in my 300 BO too.

Having a Hiperfire24C trigger in mine i am over the moon and the extra hammer force is a blessing for 22lr rounds.

It was a real close call between the 24C and the Geissele trigger groups...i feel i made the right choice but have been ever so curious about the Geissele ever since.
