M&P 15-22 HandGuard - Painted?
Just wanted everyone's opinion on this. Some people (like me) enjoy accenting certain parts of the gun in different colors, like the charging handle, the safety selector, mag release, bolt catch, etc.
What about the inside of the handguard (instead of painting the barrel)....
I just covered it with blue painter's tape, and cut out the MLok slots with a razor blade, and painted it with red metallic paint (the kind that bonds well to plastic).

While i prefer my 15-22 all black and evil like Darth Vader....
Your Darth Maul version certainly has a nice look to it....
Good job....mount it up and show the pics of the full rifle.

That is cool, but I am picky. How did you get coverage on the inside without over-spray and runs? Since I am assuming rattle can. It is never easy to get good coverage without over-spray on an item like that.

By applying several very thin coats. And patience.

Putting It All Together
Okay, I assembled everything so I could take some photos. Here she is.....
Oh, and about illuminating it....it looks BAD *** when illuminated. I'll try to take a few pics with the light shining through the painted hand guard. It looks really cool.
Thanks for the comments, guys. I appreciate the feedback. I wasn't sure what other people would think of it. I like the way it turned out.

Painted Handguard: Lit Up!
I put a light on it, and it looks awesome! I don't know how I could possibly pull this off with it mounted on the rifle itself, but still, it looks cool. The light did bring out / highlight the imperfections in my paint job, however. It would look way better if I was able to lightly sand the inside with 200(ish) grit and put a couple more coats down on it. Oh well.

Very nice, now maybe color the recesses of the magazine and the triangle shaped flats on the buttstock to bring the color all the way through the rifle

Good question. I moved the light to the scope for the pics so you guys could see the hand guard.

I already put the rubber grip tape in the recesses of the magazine. I wish I could have found some colored grip tape (it's the Talon rubber grip tape people use on pistols) to use, though.
