Default Bump Fire or Slide Fire ?

I want to get a rapid fire stock for my 15-22.

Bump Fire Systems is still selling their product for $99.99. The Slide Fire stock is available at a discounted price for $90.00 if you look around.

Design infringement issues aside, which product would you buy and why ?

TIA for any thoughts.

I have the slide fire. It was on sale a couple years ago for the complete kit for about the price of a cmc trigger alone. I have not used the stock much but I sure do love the trigger. The members here are great and we love to help each other spend money. That was a really good deal though for $179. I am glad to have caught it.

I too, want a rapid fire for my 15-22. Will the Bump Fire or Slide Fire
stock make any difference without a trigger swap?

I am planning on using my 15-22 for steel challenge matches so a trigger upgrade was already in my plans. From what I can tell the mechanics of these stocks really require a lighter single stage trigger to reliably produce rapid fire output.

Nothing wrong with the CMC trigger, though I will probably be using the Hipertouch 243G. The Hipertouch 24 triggers have the added benefit of adjustable trigger weights without sacrificing hammer strike force.

I picked up a slide fire stock recently and put it on one of my mid length 5.56 AR's, it worked great. Some time back in the Shotgun News the resident gunsmith there built a .22LR AR and put a slide fire on it. Had issues with getting it to run due to the light recoil of the .22LR round. He made all kinds of modification to the rifle to lighten it up in order to enhance the recoil so the Slide Fire stock would function. I see Slide Fire has a "Recoil Enhancer" available when using their stock on a .22LR AR. This may be required when trying to get one to function when using .22LR.

I think the binary trigger system is the coolest option. Fires a round on the pull and another on the release of the trigger. As fast as full auto.

Thanks Harrye. I'm sure you are right. I was just hoping for rapid fire without the expense of an upgraded trigger.

It does take experimentation to get the 15-22 to bump fire well. If you have seen my videos you know that I have it firing as fast and flawless as anyone on the net. I have the 3.5# trigger that SlideFire installed along with the recoil enhancer.

I found that greasing the buffer tube helps, having the gun clean and lubed each time you bump fire helps and finally having experimented with every form of ammo available I found that AR Tactical .22 is the final ingredient.

.22 CCI Mini Mags are a close second best when bump firing.

Has anyone tried fitting one of these in a 15-22 yet?

I tried a 3lb trigger in my 15-22 and it was a complete fail (using my slide fire stock) the trigger would not reset properly..i'd actually get a double fire out of the light trigger. I have the reverse muzzle break as well. The gun would fail literally 50% of the time. Almost like the hammer didn't have enough power to hit the shell and set it off. I then loaded those rounds in my V22 and they fired fine. I think this gun working with the slide fire is very dependent on the trigger used. I just didn't want to spend $200 on a trigger group on a $350 gun! It cna work..but needs specific parts it seems.

Anything you can do to help reduce friction including greasing the buffer tube should help.

If I remember correctly the Shotgun News guy didn't use the Slide Fire pistol grip replacement guide block that came with the stock. He machined a new block with a roller bearing on it out of aluminum and used it instead of the one supplied by Slide Fire. His thought was that the st ock would glide over that block with less friction if it had a bearing on it. He tried a bunch of different things to help reduce friction in order to get it function better.

Default Bump fire works fine with stock M&P 15-22

Installed a Bump Fire stock and hand grip on my otherwise stock M&P 15-22 MOE. With a few adjustments as the replacement handgrip does not have two holes for the retention springs, the rifle fires fine. Could consistently fire 15-20+ rounds almost like full auto. Repeat: stock trigger, flash hider, otherwise MOE furniture. Best method requires sliding your support hand down the handgrip to control fire.

Bump fire is lots of fun but really burns ammo with not much result. Replaced the MOE adjustable stock and handgrip when I added a Nikon Prostaff 2 Rimfire 4-12 40mm scope for longer range target shooting. The Nikon & M&P 15-22 are a fantastic match. I'm burning just as much ammo -- mostly CCI AR Tac 40grn -- just one round at a time.

Cheers!
