Default My Color fill on my M&P 15-22. Really brought out the receiver .

I did a fill on my new 15-22 MOE.
That's white nail polish. I might add a few more coats to it.

I like it! I go back and forth on doing the similar treatment on mine.

So after you applied the polish you just wiped it off before it dried?

I just did this last weekend to my M&P9. I love it. It came out great! I did one coat thick coat and let it sit for about 5 hours. Then I wiped it off. At first I applied the nail polish, let it sit for 30 min then tried to wipe it and noticed the polish could have sat longer. The 5 hours worked for me. But you only really need an hour or so. I started to upload a pic from my desktop, but for some reason it's asking for an URL address. Ugh. Lol.

It's easy just get a bottle of White fingernail polish and a bottle of fingernail polish remover non acetone. Brush the fingernail polish into the lettering and let it set until dry.I waited about 15 minutes. BUT longer is better. After it's dry to the touch take a rag or paper towel and soak it with polish remover and rub off everything that's outside the lettering or logo. Don't worry the Polish in the lettering won't come off. If it gets to light get use another coat. I did. REMEMBER non acetone polish remover. And I used a rag soaked in the remover to make it easier. FIRST few times I used a paper towel .

Laquer stik works well. Might be a little easier. You smear it in like a crayon then use a paper towel with any kind of oil (canola, motor, etc) and just wipe the surface.

When i've done this to other firearms i've always just used a crayon but i thought i'd give it a go with paint this time. I have to say i think i prefer the crayon, while the paint does give a slightly better finish to the lettering no matter how hard i try i can't get rid of the white 'ghost' effect on the receiver around the lettering I'm hoping it will wear off with time though.

Looks great. Did the same with mine. I stuck with red though.

1. Wipe down with 93% Alcohol.
2. Let dry.
3. Apply generous amount of Red nail polish.
4. Let dry for 20 minutes.
5. Use non-acetone remover with a cotton ball making sure not to push too hard to avoid getting remover into letters.
6. Make sure NOT to go back over it after step 5. I found that multiple coats actually reactivated the polish and it came out.

I also did it with nail polish...did my Glock 23 and Taurus PT111 at the same time. I will post pictures tonight after the kids go to bed.

@blackstuff - did you ever get the ghosting to go away? I am still having issues with mine

It has died down a little since i've cleaned the rifle a few times now (and got gun cleaner over the areas painted) but its still visible in certain light conditions.

Lol my wife is a crafty crafter.....although she never lets me raid her supply cupboard (not a euphemism ) She will generously lend her supplies to painting the little bits with a fine brush. Her next task is to paint the tiny little 'magpul' lettering on my Mag release button. She paints miniature paintings so her hand eye co-ordination is way better than mine...bless her.

The Lacquer-Stik definitely looks like something I would have done had I known that it was a possibility at the time.

I found the nail polish method to work well for the guns that I did it on. A little bit of patience and some light rubbing with a q-tip dipped in nail polish remover did well for me.
