Default Sling Setup for My New 15-22

Howdy Folks!

I'm a long time visitor of this site and have received quite an education on the 15-22 rifle through my reading. I recently acquired a 15-22 Sport for my birthday (wife was very gracious) and I have begun the task of modifying it to my personal needs. I have a couple of questions that I would love everyone's take on as it pertains to purchasing a two-point sling for this rifle:

To clarify, I'm keeping the original stock for now, so I'm going to make the stationary metal loop at the bottom work for now. Obviously, I need an m-lok attachment of some kind for the handguard so I can attach a sling at the upper end.

1. Paraclip or QD Swivel?

I like the quick and slick QD thing that I'm seeing on youtube videos, but I wonder if the swivel will "click" as I am moving about. I will be primarily plinking and squirrel/raccoon hunting with this, so I will be walking a lot in the woods with it strapped over shoulder. Paraclip mounts seem stationary which would solve that problem, but maybe I want it o swivel with me as I walk? Not sure, just trying to think through it.

2. Which sling?

With a very light gun such as this, I guess heavy duty shouldn't be necessary. Do you all have any recommendations? My budget would be $40-$50 dollar range.

I sure appreciate it fellas!

If you want to carry it tactically I would recommend a mag pull picatiny sling mount for the top rail and a single point sling like the A-TAC.

i have a single point sling and imo its not practical for long walks into the woods. I would go with the 2 point as the op is asking about.

i use a GI issue 2-point, 10-12$ just about anywhere. Works great, I probably won't be rapidly transitioning from a handgun to rifle any time soon. Those squirrels are going to take a beating with .223 LOL.

VTAC padded 2 point sling. Let the bitter end hang for quicker/easier adjustment. This is a high quality, quick adjust sling, comfortable, and capable of being used to stabilize your shooting position.

Don't use the metal sling loop at the back-bottom of the stock (unscrew it and toss it in the parts bin). Run the back portion of the sling through the slot in the stock and around the buffer tube. This will keep the gun from wanting to flip upside down as it would on the metal sling loop. It also makes it easier to transition from strong to weak side.

Find a low profile, anti rotational, M-Lok QD socket for the front. I think I used a Magpul version, but there are many quality versions out there.

I prefer to QD both ends of the sling, with anti-rotate up front and free rotate in the back.

When shopping for a single point sling, there are a few important considerations before making your purchase.

1. Have you ever been kicked in the balls?
2. Did you enjoy it?

If your answers were 1. "Yes" and 2. "No", then a single point sling might not be for you.

I have the VTAC padded 2 point sling mentioned earlier on my 15-22, AR-15, and AK. None of them have ever kicked me in the balls. I consider that a plus.

You guys are great. I'm going to carry this info with me and I will update everyone on what I end up going for and include a photo.

Again, thanks!

Default So far (pictures)

Man, this gun is a Bad Mama Jama.

My upgrades so far are the Bushnell TRS-25 (with
UTG medium riser), a Daniel Defense vertical grip (attached
via 3 slot MAGPUL M-LOK rail base, and a MAGPUL
M-LOK QD mount).

I went ahead and bought the MAGPUL MS4 GEN 1
sling and so far I am not disappointed. The quality is
great and I will be able to experiment with single
point for the fun of it if I so choose. It was more
than I wanted to spend at $35ish, but I'm pleased.
The only thing I am missing is the ASAP QD mount
for the buffer tube which is on order. It's the kind
that clamps down so I am hoping it fits ok. If not,
I will have to do a homemade QD mount install and I'd rather
not drill into this gun since DIY is not particularly my
hidden talent. I did go ahead and remove the cheap sling mount on the stock.

Now I need to find a good tac light for the front!

Default Magpul M-Lok Sling Mount

Will support the weight in the front of the handguard ? It's plastic...

That's a great sling, it's the same set-up I have on my pistol.
