Show me you SBR setup and how well does it run?
Waiting for my tax stamp which should come soon to SBR my 15-22 and curious to see your SBR setup and to know how it runs? Anyone have a 4.5 inch barrel length suppressed and has it been reliable? Thanks.

RedNeck Jim had a barrel chopped to 4.5 but if memory serves he had nothing but trouble with it.
I'm sure others will jump in with more info on that topic though. He did run a pretty good thread on it as I recall.
Mine is down to 12.5 inch which is the UK legal limit. but looking back some of the US guys have them much shorter than that.
That said I'm not sure mine would qualify as SBR by US standards. It it's pretty good as I see it. Would post a pic but as yet don't have one on this phone.

With a barrel length of less than 16", you're in USA SBR territory... But, since you're in the UK... No issue..
BTW, a few threads that Rob was talking about, with discussions about 4.5" barrels, and what they look like...
M&P 15-22 cut barrel to 4.5" SBR?
Same polymer throughout? (SBR project)

Mine is 4.5" but I needed to remove material from the bolt group like S&W did for their pistols. They chopped the barrel to 6". I also bobbed the hammer.
My SBR will run fine with subs, standard and HV ammo.

so...is your sbr 4.5 or 6 inches. also, do you have pics of your modified bolt you can share. any problems cycling the ammo with the 6 inch barrel. can you provide any insight on running the 4 vs 6 inch barrel as im looking to go 6 inch.
thanks

Mine is 4.5 inches. I have not taken pictures of my mods to the bolt but it looks likes exactly the pistol bolt above, although it has not been bead blasted so the milling marks are still present on the front and back of the bolt.
I had a pistol version for a while for the R&D. The 6" barrel ran in the pistol although I put less than 100 rounds through it.
4.5" barrel
Here is some good pics from member Telero

Now I'm wondering if 4.5 inch is too short for reliability? For those who have it, will it run without modifying the bolt?

I would think 6-7" would be about as short as I'd want to run it if I was chopping down with paperwork. Now if some made an integrally suppressed barrel that was 10-12" in total length for the 15-22, that would be cool.

yeah...this is a concern of mine also. im finding mixed reviews after doing google searches.
looks like 4.5 lets you run most bulk ammo subsonic which is what im looking to do. however, I feel more comfortable going 6" for reliability so I dunno. I just purchased my trust and suppressor so I have time to figure this out.

I have a 4.5in , most ammo runs fine and cycles, standard vel and HV work fine.
subs will not, anything less than 1000fps will not fully cycle the bolt, but will shoot.

I have a SBR 15-22 with a 10" barrel and a Spikes Tactical with a 5.5" barrel and a 8" barrel. Everything runs great with a suppressor on them. I usually try and shot standard velocity ammo as well.

Let me also add that I had to do some tuning with springs for the Spikes but nothing with the 15-22. But with any 22 that you are cutting down I would expect to have to do some tuning to make it reliable to shoot what you want. Having a suppressor helps with the functioning for sure
