Question Faulty Magazine ? FTF Pic included

Spankn new 15-22 , cci ammo , extractor looks great , minimal oil on bolt slide ... nose of the bullet likes to point way up or seem lodged down while loading the mag , rare to see it actually level after more then one round is loaded . Hand loaded one at a time properly ,staggered rounds

.
Ordered 2 new mags from Midway last night , read people explain this problem on the forum here then others suggest it's the same problem as a failure to eject , as you can see the bolt slams into the round , not and ejection issue ,but a feed issue ..

Am I on the right path here thinking it's a mag problem rather then a misadjusted ejector rod ?

Looking at the pic the "problem" is your mag loading.

Looks to me like the rounds are not properly staggered. That could be the problem.

The cure is to get a Lightning Grip loader from McFadden Machine. (Google them). It properly staggers the rounds and loads a magazine in about 15 seconds.

I have no problems like you pictured since I started using mine.

^^^^ What Ricrock says. The McFadden loader is terrific. Loads a 25 round magazine perfectly in about 10 seconds.

Use the magazine assist button to slam each round up after you put it in. If you insure the rounds stagger and you snap the follow after each round it should bring the bullet level and keep the rounds staggered for easy feeding in the gun.

Not trying to pull on anyone's coat here, but i think way too much is made of this loading the mags business and although i see the use of quick loading with a speedloader, it certainly is not necessary to the correct loading of the magazines.

It really is simple and i have never had one issue with my mags or loading of them.

Hold the magazine, line the round up to the feed lips, pull down on the load assist button and rather than letting the round drop in use the load assist to take the tension of the spring and pop in the round. Line the next round up and again use the load assist to take the tension of the spring as you push the round down against the previous one, but don't let it drop in. You can apply a bit of alternate pressure left and right on each round to help with the staggering and if they are looking a little off then snap down on the load assist button and they sort themselves out.

I reckon i can load a full 25 round mag in about the same time it takes to do it with a speedloader..I am not dissing the speedloader but it is not an essential product for loading magazines. Just saying.

I enjoy your posts and value your opinions. And I'd never suggest the McFadden Lightnin' Grip Loader is necessary to properly load an M&P 15-22 magazine.

However . . . I do not believe it is humanly possible to load one of these magazines manually as fast as can be loaded with the McFadden product. Not even close.

And it does load them staggered perfectly every time, which I [personally] consider important.

Okay maybe a slight exaggeration but it is pancake day *Update....total exaggeration....i can load 25 rounds using 'original stock extremities' in 40 seconds...quickest was 35 seconds, slowest 47 seconds. All staggered correctly.

If nothing else the McFadden loader is a lot easier on my old hands. I would not shoot my 15-22 half as much without one.

My observations:
You need to have the rds staggered.
You also need to have the rim of each rd IN FRONT of the rim of the rd below it.
Look closely at the pic in post #1. In it neither is done.
You can gets rds not staggered even with the McFadden loader. I have one and have unloaded mags and started over because I didn't pay attention while loading and didn't get them staggered.
When you don't get the rds staggered you can't get 25 rds in your 25 rd mag.
The only mags I can load nearly as fast by hand are the short ten rd mags.
With 25 rd mags it's no contest.

This! And its more important than the staggering IMHO. You can't have (and i don't know how you did it), rimmed ammo sitting behind the round below it and expect the gun to feed properly

Thumbs up Great Product!!

I had major FTE issues with mine. I read here about the McFadden Machine and ordered one. I went to the range today and ran 275 rounds through the 15-22 and have to say I had ZERO FTE issues. That loader is GREAT and works wonders! Made shooting fun once again! Thanks to everyone who recommend it to me.
