Default M&P 15-22 with slidefire

Ok I am new to the forum. I have a M&P 15-22 with a slide fire. I have the lightest weight Timney trigger installed along with the slidefire stock. It works pretty good as is but, I want to know if adding the slidefire muzzle break will help out! So questions are will adding the slidefire .22 special muzzle break make the gun cycle better ? And if so what has to be done to add this "special slidefire muzzle break" for my M&P 15-22 ?

Please give all the info you can !

Welcome to the forum and the madness that is the 15-22.

I don't have a SlideFire set as I live in UK and can't get one for the love of money.

However, there are many posts on here regarding the slidefire and the muzzle adapter.

From what I have read the muzzle device is supposed to help increase the blowback of the system and as a result it apparently makes it work much better, that said, a sound moderator also adds more blow back pressure so could help if you have one.

There are also members who have posted that the adapter has made no difference to how the slidefire works compared to the regular flash hider.

I am sure that someone who owns one will jump in with more comments and feedback on this point.

To fit the adapter, I will simply advise the following, clamp the BARREL not the UPPER. Unlike a true AR, the lugs are plastic not metal.

The barrel if not clamped correctly could spin in the upper and chew off the 2 lugs that hold it in place. This would ruin the barrel and the upper.

Again I am sure once more that others will jump in with advice but suffice to say, use clamps on the barrel, make or buy them from wood or alloy, some have said it was a nightmare taking the muzzle device off, mine came off pretty easy so I'm guessing there is lots of difference from one to another.

Also, if you use the search function on the forum you should be able to finds loads of hints tips and pointers.

Hope that helps some.

Rob

As a slide fire owner, and one who has put it on several 15-22s...

I never installed their muzzle device. Keys to making it work, IMNSHO, are:
1) Make sure your bolt rides SMOOTHLY on the rails. This means that the rails have to be straight. Make sure everything is clean...
2) Use VERY LIGHT forward pressure. And I do mean light. Since this works off of recoil, the 22lr has to overcome the bolt and any forward pressure you put on the rifle.
3) Use good consistent ammo. I personally use CCI. You are relying on a consistent amount of recoil, and so the ammo needs to have a similar powder charge. some ammo is notorious for not being consistent.

Honestly, I had no issue the first time. Some people seem to get the hang of it.

I don't use the slide fire much. I don't care for the ergonomics, to include the butt stock. However, I break it out occasionally (especially on my 9mm suppressed SBR AR...), for new shooters to end their day with....

Iv got mine worked out to a science. I use the recoil enhancer. If your barrel is threaded its easy just remove your install the new one. If not you need to have a smithy put some threads on it for you.

I have a factory built and one I built, the key is holding it. VERY light forward pressure is what will make a stock gun crank, My stock 15-22 with the Slidefire setup without the Comp shoots equally as well as my Slidefire Factory gun with the comp. Practice handling the gun, eventually you'll burn a full mag.

Super fast fire rate but that was about 20 rounds per second fire rate, not 1000. I think ill be pushing that here shortly. We shall see. Right now I am around 15 rounds per second.

I would also be willing to bet my lunch he knows what I know about the trigger. Again, we shall see.

Yeah the video text was mislabeled. 1000/1200 rnds per minute is about right.

Great Video Orgone1, it's fast and smooth unlike another video on this forum which claims high rates even though it's stalling and binding and slowwwww! Great range area.

Which stock do you have the SBS or MOD ? and are you running a curved or straight trigger?

I had a chance to fire off some Aguila Interceptors today in the SlideFire, those are the ticket. That thing was breathing Fire , that as the best Ammo so far for the Slide Fire

Tried a couple mods last night and was disappointed, first I changed my curved CNC to a straight CNC trigger, and removed the Slidefire Muzzle comp and tried the Wheaton brake. The gun just wouldn't run ,even with the Aguila good sh7t it wouldn't burn a 10rd mag. Going to swap triggers back and run just the Wheaton brake tonight and then swap out the bolt spring to a lighter one.

First post guys, I read a lot but never post. Got a small video of my 15-22 with the Slide Fire kit on it. This is shooting standard CCI AR Tactical. Made with my cell phone so it is nothing special. I shot 3 25 rd mags on the video. I had a hard time getting my gun to shoot reliably until I installed my ***patent pending*** recoil multiplier/rubber band on the gun. It was a big help for me.

I'm looking on doing the same thing but internally in the stock, it seems that the travel after reset is too long and you want to shorten it by pulling forward on the stock. I think if you can get the stock to stop moving just after reset that may be the trick for flawless runs.

I'm also thinking that the 3 stocks may react differently
which are you running?, I have 2 MOD's
