Default New here

Not sure what happened-- I thought i posted yesterday but it never showed up!

Anyway, Just got my new 15-22 Sport. On line at a good price (won't mention seller) and then just $20 for my FFL and i am on my way!

I doubt I will add much beyond a few more mags since this is a low cost project, but I am looking forward to shooting it a bit. I have a Henry .22 with a scope that i will try on the 15-22 and see how I like that. My son has an AR 15 with a red dot (actually it is a blue dot) and I will try that out and see which I prefer.

One question I have: there have been posts about ammo to use and not use. However when I look at the manual the only thing it says about ammo is to NOT use CCI Stinger in the performance model. Nothing is said about any other ammo to avoid. Am i missing something or has S&W changed their recommendations?

Anyone here in Arkansas? I am in north central (I can go outside any time night or day and blast away if I feel like it!)

blessings, Mike

That's good to hear. I have only shot 2 mags so far-- the first was the Federal 325 bulk-- then i too the risk and shot a mag of the dreaded golden bullet-- both ran flawlessly. And I was impressed by the mbus sights-- I thought they worked very well!

Mike: the ammo list in the manual is many years old and was made when S&W was having problems with the first generation production. Those problems have long been solved and the list is useless today. Having shot 90 percent of the brands on the market through mine and my two grandson's rifles with no repeatable problems, I say shoot anything you can get your hands on.

Hope you have a great timevwith your rifle.
Btw never put your stock on a vise to undo the barrel nut. There is a castle tool for it and lock the barrel with the vise.
Padded if you care.

Thanks for the input-- I figured the bad ammo list was an old one. As for mods-- i don't see much in the future beyond sights. I would appreciate a lighter trigger pull but I am so pleased with the gun I will soon get used to the pull!

Still enjoy reading and looking at U-tube videos on the gun and accessories!

RWSMITH-- my son as an AR15 .223! even though it is one of the cheaper rounds he can shoot about $20 in a heart beat with his bump stock!! it will take me all day to shoot $20 with a .22! Bit attraction for us old cheap geezers!
